A10 VS. M6 FOR HEAVY TRACK USE

Question for all you track maniacs..

What's faster around track? A8/10 or the M6? Does the automatic overheat after a number of laps of driven HARD?
The mustang has issues keeping the diff temps down after about 3 laps.

Is there a performance difference? I looked at the ratios and they are pretty close.

Looking for feedback.

I like my M6. I have had it out at sebring several times in 95+ and high humidity with no ill effects. Diff has not had any issues as far as i know (there's no diff cooler gauge in the car) but i have not gone into reduced power for rear end temps.

The Mustang's diff temperature issue is not tied to the type of transmission. The GT's diff has no auxiliary cooling, and the diff case itself doesn't make for a good enough radiator for dumping differential heat over extended track driving.

In theory, the closer ratios should improve lap times. But the nitty-gritty details of things like time spent shifting (MT), shift lag (manually commanded AT), possible mis-guesses (driver lapses in maintaining pedal position) and any short-shifting to avoid having to shift in the middle of a corner (either) tend to cloud the issue.

One thing is a virtual certainty - you'd be hard-pressed to keep up with the shifting of a manual transmission that had adjacent gear spacings as tight as this A10.
