I'm a fairly experienced road racer, so I like a car that can take it while you push hard.
Most cars nowadays, are fine for a newer driver and someone who just drives for fun, and these cars lose their shit once you add aero, sticky tires and really hustle them around the track.
So I would like to find something that will keep its composure while being man handled.

I saw that thread too which you are referencing, but I suspect there is a fair bit of magic dust in that thread.

Do you know where I can find out exactly what comes with the SS 1LE?
Do the stiffer knuckles and stiffer handling links come on that option or no?
Yes, the SS 1LE parts are in the suspension PN megathread here. FEA is the RPO designation for the suspension on the SS 1LE and the ZL1.

You also get the electronic limited slip diff in the 6th gen 1LE. The chassis on the 6th gen is just fantastic.

I have driven just the automatic on the street. That was the SS.

I will get to drive the SS manual in a couple of days but it won't have the 1LE.

So, just to be clear...the suspension components like the rear knuckles, arms and bushings are the same on the 1LE both ZL1 and SS?

The eLSD is actuator controlled clutch pack.

An old co worker did One Lap with another guy in a 6th gen 1LE and said the stock car performed great. My first track day with my 1LE was a Willow Springs and I put 230 miles on it and had no problems with cooling or any weird handling issues. My only desire was to have a touch more front grip. But this was a stock car on stock tires with 7800 miles on them.

i never got to drive a 1le as i got my ss before they were out but on same tires my buddy is always quicker than me and were pretty much on same skill level its a no brainer for the price difference with all the extra added goodies

yeah for sure.

Personally I would get a 6th gen 1LE if you didn't plan on modding. The car bone stock is fantastic.

I got my 1SS for autocross reasons. At the time the 1LE was in AS not classed well, and as im mainly an autocross with some track days here and there that was my go to. That said a 1SS with some mods can be just as quick as a 1LE.

The non 1LEs largest downfalls is softer spring rates and lack of wheel and tire. The Elsd as well but to me thats negligible.

Do you think upgrading an older SS to the 1LE is worth it considering the price would b much lower?

Or even upgrading all the way to FEA spec for that matter?

For me, springs, sways and wheel/tire is the very least of my concern.

Im mostly concerned about

A) Any geometry changes. That to me is fundamental and I would want the most track oriented geometry possible if there were any differences.

B) Bushings. I would want the stiffest possible, possibly even heim joints if available. I would like to start with the hardest ones first, so I have to do the big mobs only once. So cradle first, then diff mounts, then suspension arms.
Sways, etc are easy and I would potentially even swap them at the track.

C) I would plan for some serious coilovers, either MCS,JRI or Penske.

Im trying to find the ideal upgrade path here...
ZL1 1LE would obviously be my first choice but probably too cost prohibitive.

So next step down would be the SS 1LE, followed by the base SS, followed by the 5th gen.

Looking for the most economical way to get to the fastest lap time. Car wont see much street time so Im not at all concerned about street manners.

Randy Pobst ran a 1:28 at the Big Track and a 1:20 at Streets with a Bone Stock 1LE, even stock alignment.

It was my first time on the Big Track in 12 years and my first time on track with this car so I was a bit cautious. After reviewing my video, I left about 10-12 mph in turn 8. In turn 2 I could get a bit more entry speed, 5 mph, but my exit speed is there. In April I expect to be in 1:34s, maybe 33s.

Link for my Best Lap- 1:36.5

Was his lap in an SS or a ZL1?
Im' curious what a ZL1 will do there.

In our S2000 we turned a 27 I think.

I flipped that car between T1 and T2. 7 barrel rolls after being launched off the embankment on track right.
