Six pistons Z06/ZL1 and cooling ducts. These are heavy cars and they need whatever help they can get.

I have heard the zl1 kit is a popular option. What about after market kit such as wilwood, bear, or brembo? Also what is a good option for brake ducts

I believe most people find the ZL1 brakes with a race pad (of which there are many options depending upon driving style and need) are all that’s necessary. Don’t forget upgrades hoses and fluid, of course.
The only duct kit that I’m aware that still available is the Z/28. Even that I believe needs pieced together at this point. Otherwise, one needs to make their own. Take a search through this section and members’ build threads and you’ll find plenty of examples.

I went with the Z06/ZL1 upgrade on my 1LE.
Wjlwood, bear and the other make very good products, however I wanted simplicity. What I mean by this is if I need any brake part I can get it at the local auto parts store. I you use aftermarket you have to order the parts. This might not seem like an issue to many but if I'm at the track and need to replace my pads then it becomes one.

Brake pads are the most important thing along with fluid, you'd be amazed at how capable the stock stuff is with Raybestos ST43 or ST47 pads and ATE fluid

An if you can score a set of rotors from a 6th Gen 1LE special brake package they are directional (left/right specific) slotted and vented I run them on my 5th Gen.

If you order the Z06 brake upgrade part by part, you will save A LOT over a full kit.
I used Nick S.'s list here, 3rd post down: https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?p=8744227 I also did my own DIY brake system cooling as well with ducts and tubing off Summit.

I appreciate all the feed back, I think I will look into upgrading my stock pads to some race ones and some vented/ slotted rotors ( I already swapped over to RBF 600). After I wear those out I will probably look into the z06/zl1 kit. Probably will end up fabing some vents too

I wouldn’t bother upgrading rotors as you’re going to get the improvement from the pads.

Stay with plain blank rotors, you don't need the hard parking rotors, they crack and fail. With the correct pads you don't need cooling, they want to be hot and stay hot....but not too hot. It will be quite some time before you need those. As of late air deflectors mounted on the control arm have been proven more effective than cooling ducts. As a novice(it appears you are) you are overthinking it. Put some Raybestos ST43 pads on the car with some Centric premium rotors, bed in the pads, put on some cheap tires and go have a ball. At this point that's all you need as far as car changes. Track time makes you faster in this realm, not mods.
