starter replacement

I think my starter might be on its way out as its real hard slow cranking when hot. Called my local parts store and nobody has a replacement starter for this car

Can anyone point me in the direction to something thats in stock that they would use to replace their starter with?

even gm was months out for a new starter

Other Z owners had this issue. Try connecting a better ground. Start by cleaning your contacts on starter, battery and ground on body. If I find a link I’ll post it here. Good luck.

How old is your battery. Do you have long tubes . I’ve got 30,000 miles on mine and starter is still good. Bought an AGM Odyssey 720 CCA after I got tired of the slow crank and hot or not it spins over.
Even bought a Powermaster starter #9509 still in box because battery did the trick.

Miles ? The only reason I’m asking is there’s C6Zo6 owners getting close to 100 k miles on their starters and the ones that have replaced theirs because for the hot start issue are still having the issue . Adding another ground wire (if you haven’t already)could help. Hope the starter fixes it for ya for more fun miles driving this summer

Thanks! I see this once in a while during the day. Never in the morning or cold start.

Yeah its starting to show the signs I believe are of a bad starter? When cranking when hot it will skip and just make a fast winding noise. Replacement starter and heat shield showed up today. Gives me an excuse to go over all the cabling as well as the car does have some parasitic loss to the battery somewhere.
