I could care less what it does in a straight line. I want to see how it does around a track compared to a ZL1 1LE

I think the GT500 will have its handsfull with the ZLE A10. Especially since it is such an overweight.

And an LT5 ZL1 if not tuned restricted as much as we have now would take care of GT500 and Redeye. Roughly same HP as GT500, but much higher TQ plus lighter car =win..Now if they would build it for a 2021 release is anyones guess.

Ford guys have not figured that out. In fact they straight up defend it with statements like "it is well worth more than MSRP". LOL!! This price in the link is what you're going to see. They initially mark it up soo high that when they drop it to $20K above it seems like a big discount.

And some of the dealerships that are not charging markups actually sold the allocation spot for a separate price which is not factored in to the final sale. SOme of them as much as $10K for the allocation. So they are still getting money over MSRP, it just technically isn't a "markup" since they sold the allocation and then sold the vehicle at "MSRP". Slick eh?

It's a cool car, it really is. Styling wise... Not my favorite, but I do believe the GT350 is a seriously good looking ride.

But it took Ford until 2020? Wtf? Party is about over on this gen, this should have been out 2017 or 2018 at the latest.

100% agree!
I'd be interested in a $75K non-track pack version. Less aero and a more subdued spoiler so it looks less race car-like.

I agree and I know the tricks, especially the “seat license” like sports team one with allocations. I’ve never wanted a car that bad that I’d be willing to pay those kinds of markups for.

I'm not impressed at all. Much slower to 60 than the cheaper, 265 less HP C8. The Ford hero run 1/4 mile time is about as likely to be frequent as the Demon 9.65. Standard times seem to be low 11. Five years after Dodge and three years after Chevy and this is all they can put out? Ouch!

That is what the standard car runs. You don't need the carbon fiber track pack to get the 10 second quarter times. Base price is around $75k.

What are you talking about? The 10 second runs are all over Youtube from the Vegas media event. They are far from hero runs. Ford said the car would do 10.7 and it has already gone 10.6 at a private test in Bradenton, Florida. Here's a video of both occasions. It looks like Ford has delivered. And of course it'slower to 60 than a C8 because it's not a mid engine car. The ZR1 is slower to 60 than a C8 too. There's only so much traction available for a front engine rwd car on a freaking Pilot 4s street tire. Low 3's to 60 is about all you can reasonably expect.

Do you really think that car is going to run a 10.6 when magazine tested next to the C8? If so then you are sadly mistaken. That 10.6 was done in a private session with a hired gun that works for Ford. He uses tricks and does stuff that you will not see being done during normal testing or even at a regular track day. Which is why he is the only one who is able to get such times out of Mustangs. On top of that he doesn't tell everything he does to get the times out of the cars. He gives very limited info. So that 10.6 is basically similar to an individual owner time ran at a track rental and should not be compared to what we have seen from the Vettes and ZL1s. Most likely when that thing is tested same day same track it is going to do a low 11 and will probably get beaten by the C8.

jmack, myself, and the vast majority of us here are not impressed with the GT500. Nor are the Dodge guys. No, I'm not speaking for others, I'm just reporting what I see on the forums and pages. The GT500 is late to the party by years. 10s are no longer anything special. Try again. Better luck next time Ford.

The majority of the runs were in low to mid 11 sec. there were a few in high 10’s, but not many in comparison, and these were experienced drivers. What kind of times do you think the C8 or zl1 would get if GM did the same thing as the GT500?
