What exactly is to be gained with “tuning” the automatic transmission? As I stated...it shifts fast and smooth. The only thing I can see being an improvement would be even faster shifts, but I don’t know if that’s even possible or noticeable enough to make a measurable difference.

the tune in the A8 is garbage. if you like the tune its got you will love it once its tuned correctly. I think your best bet is to just get the range device. no point in voiding your warranty if all you really want to do is disable AFM. But HP is the only way to go with GM. the other handhelds are shit without custom tunes and limited with. if you want a dyno tune make sure the dyno has eddy brake.

Full 1LE suspension, with BMR adjustable sway bars and links, GM aluminum cradle bushings, Hurst shifter with lighter reverse spring, TWM shifter knob, Tick level 1 transmission. I should have bought a ZL1

What are my options for a AFM disabler? Range Technology? DiabloSport? What else? Will this aid in the transmission shudder? The shifting confusion? Hesitation? Etc?

Find a good dealership and have TSB #18-NA-355 done, it's free during the powertrain warranty period and you aren't even required to prove or repro the condition with a test drive.

This fluid flush will fix the shudder, unless the torque converter is already damaged, in which case you need the flush plus a new torque converter, and the tranny should be fine afterwards. There are many, many threads here on this subject.
