Wow....Virginia wins the award as worst drivers state. Those laws suck.

Which laws?

Radar detectors? I won't argue the point. I don't see any legitimate purpose to owning one, but to each his own.

Reckless driving? The person who said it's anything 10mph over the limit is wrong. It's "20+mph over the posted speed limit, or exceeding 80mph regardless of posted speed limit". And it's also not a felony.

Just curious, aren't there any 75 mph highway sections in Virginia?

Just curious.
If you had to choose one of the three that you own, which would it be?
As far as filtering false alarms, which is the best of the three that you own?
Thanks,

Really? I suppose then that you have never exceeded the posted speed limit in your ZL-1? I don't see the legitimate purpose in owning a ZL-1 apart from going fast, but maybe that's just me.

If you are a person who may exceed the speed limit, then aside from safety, your number one goal is to avoid receiving a traffic citation. In my view, the more tools you use, the better chance you have of not getting that ticket.

1. Be a keen observer: Be as alert as you can, and be constantly looking ahead, to the sides, and behind you for a police car. Look as far as you can. Often, if you spot a police car from far enough away, you can correct your speed before you catch his attention. Never let up on watching carefully, no matter how many other tools you use.

2. Radar detector: This lets you see around corners and in all directions around you to pick up a trap or a rolling car. I like the Valentine 1 the best because it can be sent back for upgrades when a new feature comes out. The bogey counter and directional arrows help immensely. Can the V-1 be detected by radar detector detectors? I don't know.

3. Waze: Crowd-sourced data in real time. Although generally good, this tool loses effectiveness in less populated areas because you are dependent on someone else running waze to see a cop before you and report it through the app. Sometimes that doesn't happen. Also, sometimes the app will not connect to the network to get all the updates. I use it every day, but it is less than perfect.

4. Jammers: Laser jammers are available and some work well, according to what I have read. I have zero firsthand experience with one. They are very expensive. Radar jammers are, to the best of my knowledge, very illegal and a felony to operate, again as far as I have been able to tell.

From Vortex Radar: "While radar jammers are illegal in all 50 states due to federal law, laser jammers/scramblers are regulated by states. Currently, these devices are legal in all states except California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Washington, D.C."

I know a few cops.
Get pulled over with a detector and you will definitely get a ticket with no sympathy.

Like I stated before, laser and instant on in my area is a bitch!

Waze and being alert/smart with a good attitude has been good to me. (But I am not a maniac on the road anymore)

I think I am partial to the new R7. And like others I use Waze as well.

I have the Valentine 1 and escort max 360. Escort max 360 is king. The range is ridiculous.

V1 and Uniden R3 in my vehicles. Both give ample notice to be in check but I am a sucker for the V1 arrows. So much better for situational awareness and the aftermarket apps are a huge bonus. The uniden supposedly trounces the V1 in range but my reality is it is a little better with range but I can’t stand not knowing what direction.
