V6, V8, 4Cyclinder Camaro

need an answer:

the 4cyclinder engine (275hp) is a turbo and takes premium gas. I get that.
the V6 (335hp) is naturally aspirated and takes regular gas. I get that.
The V8 takes premium gas, but is the 455hp engine in the V8, is that a naturally aspirated engine or a turbo engine? If the V8 is naturally aspirated, why does it require premium gas?

anyone help me with this answer?

The V8 is naturally aspirated, and requires premium fuel to run it's best due to its high output of power and compression

11.5/1 compression. It actually like more than octane than 91/93

Because GDI. High octane avoids predetonation, which is a concern in high performance direct injected engines.

It matters even more in boosted applications like the turbo 4 where the heated compressed air further risks pre detonation.

It also apparently matters quite a bit for fuel economy ratings, so Chevy saves on their CAFE while you pay. Or you save on gas guzzler tax up front but pay forever.... take your pick.

Agree. But it is interesting that the 3.6 V6 also has 11.5:1 compression and does not require premium fuel. The 3.6 has a higher specific output than the V8 too.

Its because the V8 is a high performance, high compression, high speed race car engine.

I always wondered why so many, actually almost all "performance" cars these require premium fuel. It's really nice to know that the V6 takes regular fuel- and is one of the MAIN reasons I got a V6 Camaro over the V8. You get a lot of performance out of "cheap" gas. And I have a long 80 mile a day round trip commute. My 2011 SS guzzled premium. My 2016 gets more than double MPG of the 2011. Premium is at least .60 more a gallon and not always available. Some stations charge 1.00 more for it. I remember the old days- my high performance Bronco with a 302 V8 and my dad's and friend's cars with powerful V8's- always took plain ole regular gas. Even the Civic SI and my previous Fiesta ST require or "suggest" premium. I tired running 89 octane in the ST and it ran like crap. It needed 93 premium but it at least got 35-39 MPG when I did not get on it. So I do love the V6 in the Camaro. Thinking about it there are not many or maybe even no other engines in a performance car that produce the power of the V6 in the Camaro on regular gas.
