If you think it to expensive by all means don't buy one. There are plenty others that cannot wait to buy one.

2016 Pricing is significantly higher

2016 Pricing is significantly higher if you make apple to apple comparisons. The base MSRP for 2015 was $24,700 with a V6, 2016 base is $26,695 with a 4 cyl. Add $1495 for the V6 and the 2016 is $3790 higher than the 2015. If you start adding options, the gap widens. I priced a 2015 2LT RS auto 6 cyl with 20" polished wheels and the same for a 2016. The MSRP for the 2016 is $4490 higher.

I had to use the Edmund's configurator because the Chevy one will not allow you to add the auto with the V6. Also the Edmunds site shows a 6-spd auto, which is incorrect but the price is right. The big kicker is the $2800 option called "Convenience & Lighting Package". Previous years you got things like HUD included with the 2LT package. Not for 2016. I like the HUD, but I don't want to pay $2800 to get it. I don't care about all the cutesy lights. Yes, the 2016 is a much better car, 8-spd auto, etc., but at what price? And if you start pricing a loaded SS, you are approaching Corvette territory.

Incorrect. Base V6 to base V6...yes it is higher (there is no 1LS any longer), but adding options doesn't really widen the gap. I just did the same build (2LT, V6, RS, Auto) and the difference was $2,590. Its kind of difficult to compare options since they are so different...you get much more on the 2016.

I will agree that only making HUD available in the lighting package kind of sucks and that can be a kicker for someone that only wants HUD.

Again...please see my scenario #1 above to show that the price difference is not always that big...and can be pretty minor.

My big thing is basically I wanted a 2LT RS but with a V8 engine or reversed a 2SS without all the high end performance features like a GT with PP has. I dont need all the performance options that the SS gets...summer tires, RAR, extra coolers, brembos, performance suspension, etc. Would rather have all seasons, sport suspension, standard cooling (since i'd never track it), lower RAR etc.

But I really want a V8 engine, not a V6.

Kinda bummer they didn't go the Ford GT route and offer SS and SS with PP.

The MSRP on one as I would have it is $39,995...that's a 1SS NPP A8 with the machined grey wheels...

Is it very nice..yes

Is it worth the price?...yeah probably

Does it come with "Loads of stuff standard that are options on other cars"...no. The advance of technology makes it seem like a "huge value"..the LT1 replaced the LS3/L99, the A8 replaced the A6..and the coolers are standard..which in the aftermarket is about a $400 saving.

With looking at getting married in the next 16 months or so..I just can't justify it like I used to. $40,000 is more, adjusted for inflation, than a 2SS/RS with the accent package was 5 years ago...just not chump change to me.

You're correct in the $2590, but this does not include the upgrades included in the $2800 package. Remember in 2015 the 2LT gave you HUD plus the upgraded interior, etc. They took content out of the 2LT for 2016, forcing you to buy the $2800 package if you want all the bells and whistles. Yes, they don't have a 1LS trim anymore, but if you compare the entry level model for 2015, the base is $24,700. And that includes a V6. The 2016 entry level is $26,695 which is a 4cyl. Adding a $1495 for a V6 gives you a $3490 higher cost for a 2016 vs the 2015 for the entry level trim. Yes, I think the 2016 is a better car, but not $3490 better. I was looking at a SS but ended up ordering a 2016 Vette 2LT auto for $56K (employee pricing) instead. More bang for my dollar with the Vette.

I refuse to order a car at this price - way too low. Camaro needs to be priced up at M3 territory to make me feel like I'm driving the right car.

The SS has 3 radiators because it needs 3 radiators. They could not get the cooling they needed with 1 radiator due to the car being built on the Alpha chassis. This was explained by Al O quite a while back.

Didn't know these got slashed. I know the mil discount is on hold for '16s but it says right now not forever

Program Pricing (of which Military is included) takes a few months after start of production to become available. This is a long standing auto manufacturer policy. As is true with everything related to the ordering process, there is an exception.
