OP, if a 1SS is out of the question an LT1 should also be out of the question. You said you can afford the 2SS. Get the 2SS and don’t look back.

I walked into my dealer wanting a 1SS and ended up taking home a 2SS 1LE and glad I did, I still find myself looking at ZL1's after an adult beverage or three. You only live once, this isn't a dress rehearsal.
Hear you loud and clear. It's the safety tech I'll miss on the 2SS and it's not practical to add it. Might add the Recaro seat cooling for $100 and that's about it. If the dash etc was a must have I'd just get the 2SS.

I recently got back into 21 Camaro SS after having a 17 SS 1le for 3 years. I debated lt1 also but for me the gauge cluster and the cloth seats I couldn't do (at least the ones on the lot). I found a 1ss out of state--- non npp (wish it had) ,with recaros (loved from 1le days) and moonroof (dont care for it) being discounted and went and got it. Personal choice lt1 , 1ss, 2ss come joing the gang

I was in the same place you are or were. You may have already decided what to do. I am retired and now on a fixed budget. But car guys always seem to figure out how to get what they want. lol
I ended up ordering a 2022 2SS Convertible because deep down, that's what I really wanted. Still waiting for delivery.
You will figure it out on your own.

At first I considered a LT1, but after looking into its limitations, it was just better to get a 1SS. The LT1 is an odd hybrid of an LT trim with a V8. This means that many upgrades that can be used by an SS can not be used by the LT1 due to the car's innards being from the LT trim. If you have aspirations of tweaking your car after you receive it, you will have difficulty finding parts that are made for a V8 and an LT trim.

Such as body parts? True.

For example you cannot add a tow hook to an LT1. If you want one you have to make your own for drag racing. And the SS "Scoop" does not fit very well on the LT1 model. Anything else? There may be more....

The LT1 engine, drive train, and suspension are the same. And the LT1 is the fastest LT1 stock powered Camaro! I witnessed an 11.8 at Atco on the stock All seasons on a stock A10 LT1 with great driving.

I so appreciate the drivetrain and chassis of this car I don't miss the SS niceties.

I do have the 8" screen & tech pkg with dual mode exhaust. Depends what YOU like or consider must haves. Just say no to Mustang old world feeling chassis and handling. Been there done that. JMHO

Last week I traded my 2021 LT1 with 1630 miles for a new 2021 1SS. Just wanted the features on the 1SS that were lacking on LT1. Traded for less than MSRP difference.
To the OP....if going for the Convertible go 2SS. You will not be happy with a LT1 Convertible at 50k!

I recently sold my 21' LT1.
Great car but it was just lacking for me.
I'm now shopping for a ZL1 or 2SS.
Buy once cry once is my battle cry...

All depends on what you need and want out of the car. I bought an LT1, and it's been exactly what I was looking for.

But I don't have a track anywhere near, and it's not my daily driver, so the extras in the SS didn't appeal to me. I just wanted something to carve the twisties in the hills nearby for a couple of hours on the weekends. The LT1 is great for that. A Miata on steroids.

If I had plans for the track, or a regular daily commute, I'd have bumped up to something like a 2SS. Pick the tool to fit the job.

In my opinion, the LT1 is the best value in the line up, period. One of the reason(s) I didn’t go with the LT1 over the 1SS was the lack of of a tow receiver. I also liked the SS nose, rear Brembo’s, dash cluster and 8” screen better. Those items are costing me a couple extra grand…with no other real street performance benefit.

The bare bones LT1 is the cheapest but honestly I don’t think it’s the best overall value. The last few sentences is why I wouldn’t consider the LT1. That’s just me though

Yeah Automatics are the only LT1s with the Transmission cooler. I have an auto so according to my build sheet I have one it gave the code KD1 for it.
