Chevrolet HHR
Been thinking of buying a used white HHR. I want to turn it into an Ectomobile.
Anyways I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with them? Most of them I find in a reasonable price range have over 150K miles. How is the reliability on them, etc?

I had one years ago, it was decent but being first at a stoplight SUCKED!
You have to duck down to see the light.

It wouldn't be a daily driver, so that shouldn't be to much of an issue.

They are just about the cheapest vehicle you can get these days and makes a great daily or winter car. Soft rubber bushings in the front end, timing chain/tensioner are the main issues to look out for, both cause noise you can hear on a test drive/cold start. Recently some have had the fuel lines rust out near the drivers side rear tire, give that a good sniff before starting out. |

I had one for a Rental for a month when they were new, put a crap load of miles on it ( went to Atlanta twice), good vehicle. I thought it was exceptional in the rain. Took some used to seeing out of it. Big enough that you can get a good bunch of stuff in there, too small for big items.
They made an (ABM) Aqua Blue Metallic HHR ! |

And if you're serious about the ecto mod, you can try and track down the fender skirts and tail light fins that were made in very small numbers. I dont judge, much.

Chevy hired the designer of the PT Cruiser and said fix all the crap and make us a better car. HHR was the result. True story.

The HHR is a Cobalt, panel van version (ha ha ha) . I had one, total junk.

same guy who designed the PT Cruiser. The PT Cruiser is based on 1930s era cars, but was loosely inspired by the Chrysler Pronto Cruizer, that was styled after the Chrysler and Desoto Airflow. They were designed by the same guy, from different eras and vehicles. It was not a Pt Cruiser Re-do. You can definitely see where he was going with the PT cruiser, from the Pronto Cruiser. It was almost the same car. |

My dads has been a DD forever. Pushing 250,000 and running strong. Usual stuff with bushings, but a great car overall.

They call the PT Cruiser PT Loser for a reason. I can assure you that as about the cheapest vehicle out there it is for a reason. They are junk. You will live to regret your purchase, unless money is no object

Bought a 2008 2LT yesterday with 124,000 miles. Now time for the conversion to begin.
