2022 New Colors and Changes

Quick order function for 2022 is now available in my system. Some changes we already knew but there are new changes.

Changes I've noticed so far:

New:
Vivid Orange exterior color(GCF)-same as the Cadillac Blackwing Blaze Orange color
Rapid Blue exterior color(GMO)
Performance Copper-Free Brake System(BCD) Likely so that they can sell them in California again
Wild Cherry Design Package now available with Vivid Orange, Rapid Blue or Wild Cherry exterior colors. Also choice of black or silver stripes and Caliente or Polished Wheels

Deletions:
Shock exterior color is no longer available
Kalahari Interior is no longer available
A1X 1LE is no longer available on any LT trim levels
Blue Convertible Top no longer available
Kalahari Convertible Top no longer available
Shock and Steel Special Edition no longer available

Looks like all of the wheels are the same as 2021. Looks like there are no changes to A1Y or A1Z 1LE packages for SS and ZL1.

I'll update this with any other changes as I find them.

Vivid Orange

Thanks for the update GearheadSS.

I was pretty antsy about finding out what color(s) would replace Crush - to see whether or not the new addition(s) could sway me away from Wild Cherry. I really liked Rapid Blue, but not enough versus Wild Cherry.

I didn't know Shock was also going away for the '22 MY. I also wonder how metallic and/or pearlescent Vivid Orange will be, and how it compares to Crush. I can't wait to see some real life photos of the color.

It's going to be quite different from Crush. Looks to have lots of metallic in it. Nothing currently available in that color but to me, it looks similar to Inferno Orange but with slightly more red tint to it.

GM started taking away things from the Impala just before they said it would be no longer produced. The last year year of the Impala you could only get black interior. Seems to me the are starting to do the same thing to the Camaro.

I'm predicting 2023 model year is the final year. I could be wrong but I read that they announced there's no plans at all to celebrate the 55th anniversary. Plus no incentives to move sales along. I'm surprised 2022 isn't the final year.

Digging the new orange. Curious to see what it looks like on chevys builder, and in person. Might have to change my wild cherry order to this color

Well, look at it from a different angle. Camaro was the 3rd best selling GM car in 2020. Get rid of it? Maybe not

Thanks for the update Gearhead. Much appreciated

Now I have to give this color some serious consideration.
I liked the similar Inferno Orange on my 2010 SS.

Hello GearheadSS!

As I was looking into more info about Vivid Orange on the Cadillac, since you mentioned it's the same as the Blackwing color, I came across this page, which lists at the bottom the paint codes for each color:

https://gmauthority.com/blog/2021/02...-matte-option/

On there, it shows Electric Blue as code GMO, which matches Rapid Blue from your post, but I noticed that Blaze Orange Metallic shows up as code GED, whereas you have Vivid Orange as GCF.

Is it possible they are actually 2 different colors? By the way, I too have noticed a resemblance between Blaze Orange Metallic and Inferno Orange

Best,

Geoff

That page has the color code for Blaze Orange incorrect. It is indeed GCF. I've attached my order screen for Blackwing CT5 and 2022 Camaro ZL1.

Thanks for those screenshots Gearhead of the colors available!

I was wondering if Rapid Blue was going to knock Riverside Blue out of the color lineup, but happy to see it is still there in case my 2021 order ends up becoming a 2022 order with the extended shutdown.
