I wouldn't be surprised if manufacturers make that move on their own within the next 15-20 years, or at least take big steps towards a zero emission goal by then.

LOL climate change. How much emissions where being produced thousands of years ago to explain why so many settlements are located hundreds of feet under the ocean. Earth cycles and sea levels change. I can't believe they get people to believe this crap. I do agree car manufacturers will steer towards electrics just because its so efficient in its ability.

CA the state that can't even keep the lights on is going to force everyone to electric vehicles? Too Funny. There is no good reason to live in CA. All though all that being said, I agree with others that auto makers and Gov is going to push people toward another fuel source. Right now that seems to be electric. I just don't understand how though. What is CA going to do, force everyone to part with the IC auto and give everyone an EV? I mean what about the hundreds of thousands of people who can not afford to buy a new car? Who would buy a used EV and have a car with a battery on it's last legs? It will be interesting to say the least to see how the next 10-15 years plays out in the auto industry.

Haha I'm 68 so it may not be a factor for me. By then there will be no Cali anyway as it will burn up if the weather patterns don't change. If there is that will be the time to move there as property will be cheap and cars will be electric and really fast. Should be good if I'm still around, doubtful but you never know.

Imagine the loss to the auto industry and the gas and oil industry. So are the refineries in California just going ot up and leave? The gas stations?

I see an EV in my distant future but for now ICE is what moves me ~ physically and emotionally as I find driving an EV sterile.
But ICE will eventually go away. Nothing we can do about that. I'm not going to worry about it. By the time it comes to fruition, I may not be around or care. For now, time is indeed ticking for ICE manuals! |

There will be a zero emission camaro by then, hopefully, so it won't make too much of a difference.

Don't worry, the automakers will oblige.
Eventually that is all they will make. More CA trendsetting. Yuck. |

Nothing comes from nothing. There HAS to be energy consumption on the most microscopic level, which ends in a macroscopic analysis. There is no free lunch in terms of energy transfer & production. Simple example: Where & how do people think the steal, copper, aluminum, rare earth magnets, machining energy, transportation, erection, maintenance, etc come from to make a simple wind generator? That’s not even considering the electrical conduit mechanisms, transformers, capacitors, et al. Do they just magically appear like Jack & the Beanstalk & are planted in the ground & grow from earth, water & sunlight? LOFL! |

There will be gas sold for 20 years or more after/if this takes effect. And by 2055 it simply won’t matter.
