What do you mean by “fully build”? It’s easy to spend more than 10K if you’re going all out, that’s for sure. What are your goals?

Candidly, your post doesn't make it seem that you know this topic. First, the short block is already custom (forged/billet) from GM, which narrows the topic down to your getting P/P heads and a custom valve train (cam, lifters, push rods, rocker arms, valve springs, and intake/exhaust valves). Mine made 725 with this, a tune, 10% lower pulley, Kooks LT and HiFlow cats. The cost would vary significantly from shop to shop.

The LT1 is pretty strong in stock form, it simply has tight ring gaps by design. That combined with high compression narrows the window of error. So extra measures to be taken when boosting them. If the rings were gapped for boost these engines would be living @ 850-900whp pretty easily.

I agree with Joshinator99 that you will want to define your goals before you start the build. Once you have a list of modifications then the forums can help you decide if you're getting a decent price for the work. Since you list your location as California you will want to understand CA's new inspection laws and how they impact you before you start your build.

So we are going to add the blower kooks catless long tube headers full gt haus exhaust system going to upgrade the fuel system and the tune for engine and trans and my shop said that we can do cams pistons pushrods and some internal upgrades that we can push around 800whp to be safe not blowing anything. It's just going to be a weekend car. Thank you |

But you think if I do cams pistons and other internal upgrades will be better for the car? It's just going to be a weekend car so people say you don't need that if you are not going to take it to the track. But I think that will make my car engine more safer? Thank you |

A complete “built” turn key engine from most of the big name engine shops is in the 25,000 dollar range depending on what options you get.

Why? He has and asked specifically about an LT1, so LT4 info. is irrelevant.
