Update on shift adapter by MH Customs
Just a quick update for anyone considering this easy mod. MH Customs (aka - awsm66) was asked to make a few of these automatic shift adapters. He agreed and I was lucky enough to be given a chance to purchase one.
I received my shift adapter yesterday and installed it today. MH Customs sent the part along with the necessary installation parts minus the shift boot (I already had that). Other than a minor shaving of the plastic of the shift lever (about a 1/4" so the shift adapter can slide over) this took me less than thirty minutes to do. For anyone considering this easy mod MH Customs is building a few more of these for others but will have some extras available. Send him a PM to get one for yourself. You will not be disappointed. This is a quality part and easy mod for us automatic guys that want a different look. Thanks again to MH Customs for deciding to make some of these for us here on Camaro5. I decided to go old school with the short throw Hurst shifter look. I think it came out great. The first pic is with the original shifter with the leather shift boot mod I did a year ago. The second and third pic is with MH Customs shift adapter installed.

But it anger me how T-handle is unnaturally tightened forward. That is why I blind the existing hole and drill more perpendicularly downwards. It should eventually look like SSEssence shifter. |

Looks great in there Caniac27 and Junior.
The next thing I would like to try to build is a duplicate of the 68/69 style shifter. I think it can be done but I am not sure I have the time to try and figure things out. Plus I really like the look of the manual boot and shifter I made. |

I had to revisit this thread to let everyone know how pleased I am with the MH Custom shifter! Mike is a great guy as well and a pleasure to deal with. He takes a lot of pride in his work and does what he says and is meticulous when it comes to the details.
I opted for the red 'carbon fiber' knob to match the car. I've shimmed up the front of the manual boot since the initial install to eliminate the gap. It's something you can really use to create your own style and it'll definitely set you apart among other 5th gen autos!

So, the real question here is "how do we get our hands on the machined shifter piece." I understand I can get the boot at the dealer, and I can order a knob for one, but i'm interested in getting the middle part to get rid of the stock leather shifter knob.
