Track Prep Cost @ Dealer?
Looking to get the track prep work done at a dealer and looking for pricing. 2 Dealers I called said they never did that stuff and one said they Don't do it! Of course these are the Service Advisers... The dealer who said ok, then quote me $800!
I looking for - Differential Service (flush) - A8 Trans fluid track check - Install plastic brake backing plates - flush brake fluid (I was furnishing Castrol) - optionally I was going to have them install braided brake lines I have in hand, since they would be there in the front already. Any input on what you paid or would expect to pay?

I might suggest you look at a shop that also does your tech inspections. This will usually be a shop that is well familiar with racing and likely have racers in their staff. I had mine done for $200 labor and I supplied all of the fluids. That included the brake cooling ducts install, torque of lugs and tech inspection. I left my alignment stock as I knew I would not be near the limits of the vehicle. The owner signed the tech sheet and called the track manager, as a courtesy. He is a well known enthusiast who runs a 2015 Z28, in white (a faster color).

Thanks for the input. I need to shop around a little bit and see who's qualified. I'd like to find a shop that has a racer involved.

In my case, I live too far from the track and there were none listed in my area. However, I knew the shop owner from Cars and Coffee. The rest was that easy.

Thanks.
I did my steel braided brake lines today and the backing plates - myself and a friend. I should have flushed the fluid, but I need to burnish the pads, so I thought I would do that, then flush to DOT4. So the dealer will get the diff flush, A8 track fluid inspection and possibly the DOT 4 flush. Thinking that should be $200, since I'm supplying the brake fluid.

Diff fluid change on this car is awfully quick/easy, fluid, additive, 3/8" ratchet (no socket needed) a small pump (like $8 on Amazon). Takes about 15-20 mins and most of that time is letting it drain. Don't even need to jack up the rear. I did it both before and after my first track event since I had 10k miles on it before my first event.
Easier/cheaper than an oil change. I did everything but the tranny check myself, the brake ducts/plates were by far the worst, solely due to the torque required on the caliper bolts. |
