I'm interested in finding a 19" set up for my Track SS. I want to keep them tucked in the wheel wells without any mods. Ideally I would want:
285/30/19
305/30/19

Anyone have any input on Tire choices?

Im currently shopping 19's also and deciding on a square or staggered setup. Must be compatible with MRC. Tire choices are between Trofeo R or NT01. 305/30 and 325/30

I just bought a set of 19x10/19x11 wheels and am planning on running RE71Rs in 305/30/19 front and rear for Auto X next year! The REs run a little skinny so the 305s shouldn't poke up front and I know they wont poke out back! These will be my dedicated Auto X wheels/tires but this setup could also be use for track time, though not ideal.

First off, how "track" do you want? Are we talking RE-71R, NT-01, Hoosier R7, or Conti/Pirelli slicks? If you want a trackable street tire, I have to give props to the SS 1LE's Supercar 3 tire, though it's only in 20" sizes. Otherwise your closest good bet is a square 295/30-19 setup with RE-71R or 295/305 setup with Toyo R888R. If you were going Hoosier R7's, then 295/30-19 and 315/30-19 just barely fits.

I'm a fan of mr965's recommendation with NT-01's in 305/30-19 and 325/30-19, but those will obviously poke just like the same size Supercar 3R's on the ZL1 1LE.

I run the supercar 3 on 20's now and really like them, so I want something as sticky or better for a road course.

I thought the 19s would bring better choices, but I'm not sure based on what I'm finding.

I think the 305/325 needs mods to fit and I'm not looking for that. Poke not a big issue, as these will be mostly track use. Maybe a drive to/from track. I think their were mods necessary to avoid rub? A mention of a pulled rear fender mod? I'm running Eibach Pro Springs, which lowered about an inch.

Based on my limited experience, I am probably biased towards the NT01 over the R888. Any input on the Hoosiers?

In 19's I would go with Apex wheels for the cheap option. Front 19x10 +25 or 19x10.5 +22 and 19x11 +25 rear.

You will probably have to run a spacer in the front to clear the strut when you go to track alignment (>2.0° camber).

If you go with the 10.5 and 11" setup you could run NT01 305/30/19 and 325/30/19. This setup will poke a little bit.

You could also go a little more expensive and grab Forgestar wheels and get pretty much any offset you want to really fine tune it.

As mentioned before Toyo R888R and Trofeo R are available in 295/30/19 and 305/30/19 also if you would prefer to be closer to stock 1le sizing.

I run Apex PS-7 ET25 19 inch square with 285/35/19 RE71R.

I like to be able to rotate them around.
These are directional tires so I can't do side to side rotation but I just flipped tires on the wheels (making left become right, right become left) so I can get more life out of it.

If you already have 20s then you can "move up" to Trofeo Rs for more stick at a price.
I'd run S3s for street/track tire, but if you trailer your car 19s or even 18s make sense for Hoosiers or slicks if you want seconds vs 10ths off your laptimes. Otherwise the stock rubber can't be beat performance to price wise. Besides IMO they are equal, or pretty damn close to NT01s in pace anyway (for me).

... Wait... I need clarification. You are saying that you believe the stock Goodyear Eagles are similar to NT01? I have no idea, but I would think the NTs would be softer and less tread meaning more grip? Any details would be appreciated.

Personally, I never ran the stock Eagles on the track, I started on Supercar 3s. But I did notice a difference between Michelin Super Sports and Sport Cup 2s on my vette, and I think that would be a close match than the other?

TrackClub has a 1LE. For him, "stock rubber" means Suoercar 3's.

Sorry, I meant S3s as that's what comes stock on a 1LE. I don't have any scientific data per se, but I've improved my PB at 2 tracks thus far with a 1LE all stock vs my C5Z on NT01s (same power levels). So in general I don't think that S3s give up much (if any) pace to NT01s. The latter may last longer and be more consistent thru-out their life, but frankly I would not drive either tire beyond 6 days or so in case of rain on public roads going to/from track.
I had tried Cup2s and I don't think they are any faster vs S3s and cost me double...I have RE71Rs on now but haven't tracked them yet. From some sources these might be a bit faster, yet (here) they are $500 more per set. This means a "free" set of S3s for every 3 sets of RE71Rs based on simple math. Personally I'd rather spend the same money and have fresher rubber Then again, if RE71Rs wow me then it might be the tire of choice for me.
We will see, as I really liked the S3s pace, handling and wear characteristics. And did I already say they are cheap lol? I had thought about Trofeo R but again the price is very high and longevity and rain performance questionable.
Bottom line I think the S3 is a superb tire. If I wanted to cut seconds vs tenths off my pace then I'd go straight for Hoosiers/slicks. This of course means either a tire trailer, or a car trailer. Been there done it and now love the simplicity of just arriving and driving with my 1LE and still being able to hang with the big dogs. NB a member just did 2:11.2 on S3s at the Glen which is very fast. Brand new to the car so he ran it in PTM Sport 1. This pretty much means the S3s will do 10s in a less restrictive Race mode/all off. That's rather incredible and frankly anything beyond such capability is like splitting hair. Unless one goes for the slicks. Just IMO of course. Cheers!

Track Club -thanks for the details. Yes I love the S3's myself, but they're only available in twenties, and I thought the 19's would be a good choice for lowering a bit and saving a bit of weight.

At thi, I'm second-guessing my choice to move to 19s.

By the way, I agree that the S3s Sare right up there with the super sport sport cup 2. Some of my confidence may also be that the Camaro is just more planted than the Vette.

Well I think we sometimes tend to over think things me included of course. IMO for a dual purpose car (DD and track) stock set up wheel/tire wise rocks incl ability to perhaps run RE71R 295 square. But for a trailered car separate wheels and slicks make a ton of sense. BUT, that a different game IMO.

Just an FYI, it is possible to fit all 4 wheels and tires in the car (19" Apex wheels)
It's a tight fit but definitely doable. My vote would still go to NT01s (305/325) because with the wider tires, improvement in the rear grip is very "VERY" noticeable

In terms of overall lap times, the difference between this and the OEM tires are about 1-1.5 seconds (very close to Trofeo Rs that I tested) in a 2 min lap course but it would be even higher with a good set of coilovers or maybe a bit more aggressive MRC calibration (DSC controller maybe).
