Got my car back from install
Got my car back from install. It is crazy loud. The pictures really don’t say much as the install is super clean. All focal flax speakers, alpine x amps, jl processors, sound deadening. The subs are in a custom box. The installer said better out put with a box built for the focal subs vs the jl w6 stealth box and they did not have to cut into the trunk liner. Here are the pictures. Also got the windows tinted.

Looks awesome!
When the cover is down, what supports it in the center now that the big foam thing is gone? does it sag? Also, which Focal kit is it? 2-way, 3-way? I've been looking at this set https://www.focal.com/en/car-audio/c...its/ps-165-f3e

Here's your photo's corrected. Love the black out look car looks great. Maybe add some smoked LED side markers to complete the look.

What do you think that would run without the subs ? Trying to get an idea so I don’t get bent over when I get quotes.

Figure in 2500 bucks in labor and install items like connectors etc. that should get you close. The sub set up was 1100 bucks with a custom built box. Just the subs were 600 for the pair

Wow, I love those Focal Flax speakers, the electronics install is super clean, and I think you used a good amount of Dynamat around the body - superb!!! I too needed about 1 hour of post-install tuning with the Helix DSP.3 at the car stereo shop. I had lived with it for about 1 month - the treble was way too sharp, mid-bass was lacking, and the low bass from the sub needed a large bump. It is about 90% there now. I want to tune a little further, but the Helix software only runs on a Windows laptop, and I am without a laptop, and only have a Mac Pro trash can desktop PC running Win10 and MacOS and an iPad Pro. It would be cool if your JLs were adjustable by iOS or Android. Update: Dammit, I'm so jealous - your JL Audio TüN software runs on iOS and Android tablets too - awesome!!! When I got my upgrade, the installer said the following about how bright his brands of speakers were: Brightest: Hertz Middle: Focal Darkest: Morel I wound up going with the Morel Virtus Nano Carbon 2 way components in the front and the 6.5 coax in the rear seat side panels. I love midrange, so I would consider the 3 ways, but that would involve some type of A pillar install, I believe. It turns out that the tuner started out with the Morels way too bright, and after an hour tuning session, after pushing and pushing him, we got the midrange right, and I find the high treble just a little too low now, and the mid-bass needing a little improvement, if possible. ZL1 vert stereo upgrade Morel has 2 and 3 way components in non-carbon fiber as well, as well as several levels of speakers. I'm happy with mine now after tuning. NYBlack1LE: FYI, my install linked above was close to $6K all in and fully installed - the prices are listed for each item in the post. I remember thinking I wanted to drop like $3K in the beginning, but when you factor in the integration devices ($1K for NAVTV GM650, Helix DSP.3), the labor ($1.3K), leaving amps ($1K) and speakers ($1.5K), and some miscellaneous stuff (cables, SoundSkins), it crept up to $6K. Worth every penny compared to stock Bose - which never sounded right. |

You are describing my thoughts on the flax how they are set now. The low end is great but the treble is goofy and lacks mid bass. I will definitely have to hook into and play around |

I haven’t hooked into the car yet but the soft ware lets you run a simulation in it. Pretty slick little tool.
