VVT cam GPI SS1 VS TSP 1.2
Trying to decide which camshaft to go with since I am keeping the stock converter. What have your experiences been with either? Which would you pick?

I have the SS1 from GPI and love it. There’s power from 1000 rpm all the way to 6400. I went ahead and backed mine with a 3600 triple disc from circle d but I’ve heard of many of guys who left the stock stall and have no issues. IMO, you wouldn’t regret the SS1. GPI did a great job with that cam

With the stock converter, the SS1 is fine. Its when you get into Stage 2 (which is still feasible) but mainly Stage 3 and 4 (marketed cams on the hydraulic side of the house) that need an aftermarket converter. The converter has to match the cam for the best performance.

I'm running a GPI SS1 VVT cam have been very happy with it, especially for a street car. I ran the stock converter for a year before upgrading to a Circle D 3800. On the street with the stock converter it has a good lope and easy driving manners. At the track the stock converter flashed around 1900 RPM, launching kinda like it did when stock, but as it climbed above 3600 RPM it was like the afterburner kicked in. Lots of fun?
