20" wheels are only for looks - change my mind

All kidding aside, I'm having a hard time deciding on whether to make the switch from the LT V6 size 18s to 20s. I've always thought the more rubber the better the ride. Def open to input on whether there is a performance impact. Either way I'll be upgrading.

Not looking to track the car but sure am having fun driving it. Appreciate this forum already.

Shorter sidewall gives better handling; less sidewall to flex so more responsive. But usually ride quality suffers.

I have the OEM 20's with runflats on my 2018 v6, and they suck on harsh type bumps, but look better than the 18's. Looks vs comfortable I guess...

Shorter sidewall also increase the risk of damaging your wheel if you hit a nasty pothole.

Plus there's cost. Tires for a 20in wheel are generally more expensive.

If you want more rubber, just look into getting wider 18in wheels to accommodate wider tires. Or possibly get wider 19in wheels.

dont forget the increase in unsprung weight that comes with bigger wheels.there may be a slight performance penalty with the heavier wheels.

Nope the bigger the rims the bigger the brakes available.

Best bet is replace the all season tires with lower profile performance tires on the stock wheels when they wear out.

And yet the 20 inch wheels also come with 30 series tires defeating the purpose.

Thanks for the input. Makes sense why the straight line guys are looking for 15s

They do look sweet. No doubt about that.

Happy medium but offsets are atrocious on 19s from what I am finding.

I'm in Cali so ya - our roads are shit. Got a train to no-where tho....
