2018 1LT Wheel Size?

Is anyone with a 2018 1LT running 20 x 9.5's on the rear? I have 1LT with the Redline package and stock is 20 x 8.5.

Met a guy at a local car show with an 18 RS V6 like mine, and he was running stock 20 x 9.5 SS wheels with no problems

Thanks man. I'm kicking the idea around to swap out the rear wheels from 8.5 to 9.5. I'm guessing the tire width will also be different.

Yeah the SS uses a 275 vs the 245 that we have. Running the wider rear setup definitely gives the car a more aggressive look. Looks a little wimpy with 245's in the rear

The 245's definitely look wimpy from behind. I'm trying to find a wheel chart somewhere that will tell me what the corresponding tire size will be so that the height stays the same.

Stock is 245/40/20. A 275/35/20 will be almost exactly the same height

Truthfully the car is a lot of fun to drive and I love driving it. I had the Flowmaster American Thunder axle back for a while and now I have the Borla S Type axle back. the sound is as good as it's going to get for a 4 cyl. She has 6600 miles and the infamous shudder hasn't reared it's ugly head. Knock on wood.
However, I need the growl of a V8. By this time next year I hope to be in a 1SS 1LE or at least a 1SS with NPP.
I test drove one with NPP recently and now I have to have one. It pulled like a mule!!

Nice! Funny story for me...when I was at the dealer getting ready to do the deal, the plan was to purchase the turbo 4. Long story short they screwed up and I got the same exact car (from options, to color, etc) for the exact same price but in a V6. Kind of crazy but fine with me since it was a $1500 upgrade lol.

As far as the V8 goes, it's definitely awesome. You could also do what I did. Keep your turbo 4 as a daily (my V6 is mine) and buy a 700 hp 2000 SS Camaro as your crazy fast and loud weekend toy lol. Mine was about 12k and in awesome shape. Now I have a 12 grand toy that can smoke Hellcats, Z06's, etc...lol

That's a score man. It's not everyday that the dealer makes a mistake in one's favor.
Nice, 700hp must be so much fun to drive. I don't know what would happen if I had that much hp, lol.

Honestly, much like anything, you get used to it. I mean don't get me wrong, it's a beast that still puts a smile on my face, but that initial HOLY CRAP rush you get for like the first month lol, sort of dies down a bit after some time.

My buddy had a 18 SS. Completely bone stock, but with a drag radial on his stock wheels, he ran 11.9 at 115 mph. Pretty impressive IMO

So true. My boss had a GT350 and said the same thing, after a while you get used to the power. These days he drives a Z06 and says that he's afraid of it, lol.

Remember rotating mass. Wider wheels and tires weigh more and you'll feel the loss in acceleration, especially in the 2.0 turbo. I had a set of OEM SS 20" rims on my 2LT 2.0T and the difference was immediately noticeable. The 2.0 is a great engine but it does not like extra rotating mass. If you do decide to keep this car and upgrade wheels/tires, I highly recommend avoiding the OEM rims, and instead go with the lightest, highest quality aftermarket 19" rims you can afford. I actually kept my stock 18" LT rims because they're so light.

I disagree that 245s look anything except appropriate and balanced on this car, and definitely not wimpy. The square 245 setup works really well and that's what the car is tuned for. In my mind it strikes the perfect balance between weight and performance for an all-around sports car, especially for a car like the 2.0T or V6 which isn't just about pure acceleration. The SS has 275s because it needs them. The only reason to go wider on the 2.0T, IMO, is if you tune and do mods and the car is making more power. I realize that some people are doing this for aesthetic reasons, but some are completely missing the fact that they are weighing down their car when they do that. Even opting for the RS package, is, a purely aesthetic decision. The 20" GM wheels weigh a metric ton and you can feel the difference in non SS cars.

You said you "need the growl of a V8" and also that you don't plan on keeping this car, and are looking to get into an SS next year.

So if you aren't keeping the car...why not just save the money you are thinking about spending on wheels and tires, and put it towards an SS?
