Get rid of tinny sound
What can I do to make the 2017 V6 sound more like a muscle car? I don't want it obnoxious loud just a nice purr.
What's all involved and approx $$$ will it impact mpg? |

"Get a V8 instead" answers incoming in 3... 2... 1...
Okay, that aside, I was in your shoes in 2018 and decided to trade her in for a 2SS. If that is not an option and you have NPP on your V6, that's pretty good already, otherwise (which is probably why you're asking), you can get a high quality aftermarket exhaust such as Borla. The GM V6 performance exhaust upgrade is also made by Borla. A new exhaust alone, whether a catback or an axleback, will have no effect on your fuel economy.

A catback exhaust starts right behind the cats, an axleback only includes the final section behind the rear axle (hence their names).

Could do what I did. Get a cai, 80mm throttle body, jacfab ported intake manifold with an axle back flow master American thunder. All this with a tune makes it sound beefier than stock. But this is my third car in my weekly rotation and my daily driver so I wasn't interested in a V8 especially since my friend was the finance manager at the dealership and practically gave me this car back in 2019. All this should run you about $1,800 all in with a shop install on the axle back.

Probably. Exhaust might help it exhale a little easier but mostly just sound which is what I went for. If I had to guess maybe 1-3 rwhp gain

I ran the Flowmaster axle back on my 18 V6, and it had a nice sound, and was cheaper than others. Performance wise there will be no measurable difference

Overkills web site was down a few months ago , they are back now. Jacfab are out of lgx intake manifolds now. Overkill says 80 mm throttle body with stock intake. How much better is it with jacfab intake?

Don't know about the jacfab throttle body. I ordered my throttle body from Soler performance. The intake manifold from jacfab is a smart purchase. Because it allows the air to flow more effectively the pedal and acceleration are smoother. The car definitely has more kick to it. For the 80mm throttle body you need to stretch the coupler from the intake to the throttle body
