Works fine on my 2019.

You can only bring up your map...You can't enter a destination and get directions?

If so, clear all your data on the phone app and try again after logging in. Make sure all the app permissions are enabled.

I could be wrong but Try turning the wifi off in you phone when you’re in the car. The cell network will pickup and your connection should engage. Either that or throw some data on your onstar package.

Waze works great using Apple CarPlay in my 2019. I don’t have to disable wireless or do anything besides plug it in and it works great.

Check your settings, I turned off voice on mine because it was annoying. 2019 and Apple

Here I am thinking I'm the only idiot that ditched the factory navigation for Waze app.

BTW, works pretty good on my 2018. Cookie Monster voice :P

finally figured it out, if anyone else runs into this do this.
On the phone, go to Settings --> Apps & Notifications --> App info --> Waze. Hit "Force Stop" button. Then, go into Storage and hit "Clear Cache". If that doesn't fix it, also hit "Clear Data" on the Storage screen.
i did a search and it didnt come up, had to google it to find it, also go through settings again and make sure everything is turned on, somehow mine got turned off, probably after the aa update two weeks ago.
