I’m not talking about a COPO 302. That would never make enough power and be smog legal. A hot LT1 should be fine and shouldn’t be too expensive.

The COPO 302 is only rated at 410 HP. If we are putting in a Chevy crate engine that ignores emissions and MPG standards, why not the LT376, which is rated at 535? That's more than the Voodoo.

I see the New Z/28 coming in at $89,999 but it will have to be one bad a$$ car, look for it to be a late 2019 car IMO.

I wonder what they could do with a new intake, heads, headers, dual fuel injection and a hotter cam. The LT376 535 is just CNC heads and a cam. No more compression, no new intake manifold and no new headers.

The LS6 has a 16% increase over the LS1. The same increase on the LT1 would be 533 hp.

Well, that may be true for GM, but if you and I put that engine in our Camaros, it would probably still pass emissions since the test centers are just hooking up to the OBDII port and looking for any tripped codes. I don't think the emissions centers would know any difference (at least in my state)...

Might make a great track car!

We are dropping a 525 LS3 in a track car next week, so we are in complete agreement.

I don't see much of a market for a 90K Camaro

If the GT500 or Z28 push past 80, I cannot see them selling very well. The sad part is, the car is probably worth every bit of the cost considering the performance you would get and the cars you would trounce on the track... but if you push into the mid or high 80s you are not flirting 5-10k above a 1LT Z06.

On the other hand ... a good chunk of the GT350R's have sold for around 90k, after adding in dealer markup.

While that is true the MSRP of the car was in the mid 60s.

I don't think a Camaro or Mustang has a market with an MSRP approaching 90K.

Get it below 3500 lbs with maybe a small bump in HP.
This is exactly what the Z/28 needs to be.
