there is no "light" for pad thickness. In a CCM brake car like a Z/28, there are wear sensors. These steel brakes have no wear sensors. Please check them visually. Do it often and you can gauge when to swap them. I call my brother-in-law "potato chip" as that is the thickness he decides to swap pads.

I typically change mine below 50% of original thickness.

This assumes I am running on Track.

I have seen too many folks start with a half thickness pad and it’s totally gone by session 2.

They wear faster the less material is left.
