I have a love/hate with my Hero7.


It's great for things like hiking/skiing. So bad at motorsports.


WiFi control from inside the car is spotty. Missed my session under the lights two weeks ago because the phone app crashed while talking to the GoPro.


And for the love of *** can they please make a battery that lasts longer than 20 minutes?

i used it on sunday havent had time to edit it yet but the footage in 4k is pretty wild and pretty steady, had a case and wind noise isnt as bad as old one but definately need a foam cover or something

I use a 7 and an 8. Keep using and trying out different places to mount it outside and inside the car. It takes time learning the quirks of these little bastards. But its freaking awesome when you get it just right. An external mic is an absolute must!

I have also tried a number of places and settled for a passenger seat mount. It shows hand position, etc, and complements the external PDR video. It is also easy to fiddle with if something goes wrong or it needs another battery

Side glass mount was not adding much to the PDR footage. The front mount is good but disembodied. Sides low are subject to damage.

What are you doing for an external mic?

I use this mic with my GoPro 7 which also requires a GoPro mic adapter. I don't know what is needed for external mic for use on a 8 or 9 though.

I will typically go through 3 batteries during a day of autocross. My phone will lose sync once. I find that if you're constantly reviewing videos it will suck the battery dry. Once I get out of the car after a run I shut the gopro off. It's been said a few times in here but make sure to turn the vibration reduction off or whatever its called.

I carry like 10 batteries with me along with the charger. Lol. You never know with these dang things.
