Best tires for street

I'm getting a new zl1 1le here in the next month or so, just waiting on delivery. It will be just driven on the street, is there a better tire for street traction over the stock goodyear 3r? Maybe the sport cup 2s or something else?

Or are the goodyear 3r also the best for street use?

3R is not a good street tire. Most folks, myself included, run Michelin PS4S on the street. That would be my recommendation. They're not cheap, but they're the best.

Save those 3Rs for track days

I agree, the 4s are the best all-around performance tire for the street (unless you go with an R888 or RII in the rear or something).

If you don't want to spend the cash on the 4S, the Conti ECS are typically the go to. Most say they are almost as good as the 4S in the dry and better in the wet.

I need a good street tire that has some rain to it. I am not talking going 200mph in the rain,

but say 45 -50

I picked up a set of the recently released Continental Extreme Contact 02 for street use. (Not mounted yet, waiting on some APEX rims to get made)

Saw some good feedback on them on the street and track from an SS owner on the forum.

PS4's are the popular choice here.

I'm thinking about ecs 02 as well, or a set of sport cup 2s that I can get for cheap from a guy. Also which design apex wheel did you get hemidave? I got the vs-5rs in 19s

You have excellent taste in rims.

I ordered the exact same, VS-5RS in 19 inch ZLE spec.

Satin Black as my one and only choice.

Next you will be telling me your ZLE is Summit White. LOL

The GY will be hard to beat on warm dry pavement, but undriveable in the wet. The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S or newer is better for wet and dry.
