Question

I have a 2022 Summit White 2SS 1LE A10... not sure how to break that down. Math is hard.

I'm not sure either. For example, I have a 2022 2SS, manual transmission, in Rapid Blue, and with the 1LE package. While this chart does give amounts for each one of these individually, I'm not sure how they all combine. Is there a particular order you're supposed to follow when figuring out the number of vehicles in your particular build, or does this not get that specific?

This data will not let you figure out how many other cars are built just like yours. GM heritage doesn't get that sort of breakdown.

They built more 2SS than they did 1SS. I didn't expect that.

Yeah, I figured as much. That's too bad, it would be interesting to see a more detailed breakdown of the exact numbers they produced. I've heard this kind of information can often be had with other car makes (albeit, sometimes years later), so maybe there's still hope that we can get this info somewhere down the road.

What I find interesting is that they built, by percentage, more autos in the 2SS than they did in the 1SS. In fact, they built more 2SS coupes with the auto transmission than they did for all 1SS coupes.

Maybe this is because more people who bought a loaded 2SS (with all the extra amenities) were less interested in the engagement that a manual offers? Or it could be argued that, since the auto is faster, they wanted the "best" as far as both interior/exterior and performance?

I'm not surprised that more 2SS than 1SS were built, or that a higher percentage of 2SS are autos. The 2SS is considered the more luxurious/upscale version of the SS. I suspect more 2SS owners daily drive them, or the car is their primary vehicle as compared to 1SS owners. I'm not saying that is the case with everyone, just the majority of folks. I purchased a 1SS 1LE because I wanted max performance, but didn't need (nor want to pay for) all the bells and whistles of the 2SS, as my car isn't a daily driver.

A deeper dive into the numbers supports this. Seventy-seven percent of 22 2SS coupes were built with automatic transmissions. And only 29% of the 22 2SS coupes have the 1LE package. Compare those numbers with the 22 1SS cars. Forty-seven percent of 1SS coupes were built with the 1LE package. And 62% of 1SS coupes were built with an auto trans.

The manual transmission numbers are interesting to me. We all know that fewer and fewer people know how to drive a manual transmission car, much less want one. Typically only enthusiasts want a manual, but even some of those folks don't want one in a daily driver. More than one-third (38%) of the 22 1SS coupes are manuals compared to 23% of the 2SS cars. I suspect, but can't confirm from these numbers, that the percentage of manual transmissions is higher on 1LE cars than on the regular SS cars. And with fewer and fewer cars even available with a manual we are lucky the Camaro still has one available.

Nice summary; thanks for the analysis. Amen on saving the manual transmission. I just sold my BMW because it was an auto and missed manual gear shifting. Waiting on my 2SS 1LE with 6MT. I had a 2017 2SS 6MT and missed it a lot and it was my daily driver. This new Camaro will mostly be a daily driver, but now have a Wrangler for the inclement days. I still had to get 2SS, because I would miss those features from my 2017 2SS.

Thanks. I too had an automatic BMW that I sold when I purchased my Camaro. Even though it had paddles and an Alpina transmission flash it wasn't like driving a manual.

My biggest surprise from the 22 production numbers was that almost 50% of 1SS have the 1LE package. I was somewhat surprised it was that high. Maybe I shouldn't be though. When Chevy initially introduced the 1LE package it was only available on the 1SS with a manual transmission.

Kind of makes sense though when you consider the difference in price from a 1SS to a 2SS is $6500 and the cost of the 1LE package is $7000. That's why I bought a 1SS 1LE but I opted for a 10 speed. I didn't care enough about the differences in the 1SS to 2SS to justify spending that much more.

I did the same cost/benefit analysis with my car. For about the same money I'd rather have the 1LE package vs the extra features of the 2SS.

I tried doing that but then said screw it, ( like 2 beautiful girls in front of me.. why cant i have both?? LOL J/K J/K )

I have to say for me, I 100% wanted the 2ss looking at the future incase for resale or if i hang onto the car for years and years it might be one of those things people did not want to pay for and its more rare. Being a Rapid Blue 2SS 1LE, and them getting rid of the color gives me hopes of maybe that will happen lol..

BUUUUT the other reason was the extras. I figured im already paying this much for a vehicle, why not get everything i want in it. The car was 70k so i look at it as, whats an extra 6$ a payment for the extras YOLO right?? lol. Also after being in a Vette with Vented seats and all the extras, The wife really wanted them soo.. Had to please her also i guess
