Clutch Recommendations and Thoughts
Give me some clutch recommendations and thoughts.
I'm installing a new LT1-400 625 HP engine that will get 200 HP shot of nitrous every now and then. It's an everyday driver with an easy camshaft. I have the factory Tremec TR-6060 six-speed manual transmission and want to use an aluminum flywheel. I believe the factory 2SS has a dual mass clutch. In past vehicles I've used SPEC dual-disc clutches.

I got a Mantic twin disc with matching flywheel and it is without question one of the best mods I’ve ever done on a car. The quality, feel and drivability are amazing.

From what I see their clutch systems come with a throw-out bearing. I contacted Mantic to get their feedback.

Me I like stock performace stuff and my stock LT1 clutch is blowing my mind as it is still working, next time I'm in there (check the bolt torque on my rods), I'll go with a stock Zl1 clutch.

I've been thinking of going with the stock ZO6/ZR1 clutch disc and pressure plate with a Katech aluminum flywheel. The cost is low, adhesion/grip is good enough for the ZR1, and the parts are easy to obtain. The Katech flywheel offers a 24.5lb weight savings and is rebuildable. I do like the OEM clutch engagement and feel.
Katech Billet aluminum flywheel with steel friction plate, PN KAT-7004: $886.49 GM clutch disc and pressure plate, GM PN 24278525: $572.79 Generic FTE brand throw-out bearing, GM PN 24265745: $197.79 ARP Flywheel Bolt Kit, PN 234-2802: $38.99
