Camaro Factory Splash Guards

Hi guys,

I just picked up my new car and need some help. Does GM sell Rapid Blue OEM splash guards? Also, I know I have to do an oil change on the 500/1500 miles do I also need to change the diff fluid the cars not going to be tracked.

I'm looking in the GM eStore & don't see Rapid Blue. They have Summit White, Black, Shadow Gray, Riverside Blue & Red Hot. Below are the part #'s for black if you decide to go that route.

Front Splash Guards Black: Part No. 23436524
Rear Splash Guards Black: Part No: 23436534

I don't think GM has made the OEM splash guards in Rapid Blue, at least not yet. I recommend something larger like the ACS rock guards, especially on a 1LE. I have them on my my Rapid Blue 1LE along with the ACS side skirts. ACS makes them to match the matte black trim pieces on the 1LE.

I did oil changes on my car at 500/1500 miles. I also had the differential fluid changed at 1500 miles. I was surprised how dirty it was so I think it's a good idea whether you track the car or not.

Those are sweet. Did you order them that black or did you paint them?

Thanks! As I said ACS makes them (both the rock guards and the side skirts) in 1LE black (matte black) to match the 1LE trim pieces. So yes, I ordered them that way. You can also get them in gloss black.

They're beautiful and look 101% OEM, but also very expensive, not that much wider than the stock splash guards and require poking new holes into the car.

There are quite a number of splash/rock guard threads with several options, let's not rehash them here , let me just say I use Rokblokz that provide greater coverage for a quarter of the cost and am happy with them.

ACS rock guards are more expensive than many others, but they are formed to fit the contours of the wheel wells. And of course the old adage applies here, you get what you pay for. The only holes required for installing the ACS rock guards are for the fronts. And those three holes are in the inner fender liner and are filled with rivets during the installation. The rears use the OEM screws in the rear fender liners. No drilling holes required.

There are certainly other rock guard options. The choice is up to the owner's budget and preferences. Nothing wrong with most of the other options, but I prefer the look of the ACS guards.

I completely understand and respect your choice, the ACS guards are indeed very high quality and look awesome

Just one final thing, I installed a rear diffuser a couple months ago, and noticed in the process that the original one was completely busted due to rocks kicked up by the rear tires. The Rokblokz rear guards cover the entire width of my 305 tires, and the bottom of my new diffuser is still looking much, much better, almost unharmed. Then again, not everyone cares much about the bottom of the car, so to each their own.

I think we both agree that having splash/rock guards on your Camaro is better than having none at all. I also think for most people the choice of guard comes down to three things. Function, cost and appearance. I prefer molded over non molded guards. I have molded Dodge guards on the rear of my 19 Durango R/T, but ZL1 Addons guards on the front. Reason being Dodge does not (or at least didn't at the time) offer molded splash guards that fit the R/T/SRT. The regular Durango guards will work on the rear of my Durango, with some subtle adjusting, but not on the front because the rocker is different. I'd rather have something on the front than nothing so I went with the ZL1 guards on the front. I don't particularly like the way the ZL1 guards look, but they function fairly well. Although I'm not sure how well they would hold up places with snow and ice for extended periods of time. Thankfully we don't get much snow in eastern NC.

Your point about the coverage the guards offer is a good one. The front ACS guards are much wider than the rears and offer much more protection under the car. Of course the front wheels/tires turn and the rears don't. I admit that the rear ACS guards don't offer much protection under the car. They seem primarily designed to protect the painted sides of the car, which is what I think most owners are more concerned about. However, if someone is concerned about the underside of the car and the diffuser area then the ACS guards might not be for them. I admit I really haven't looked very closely at the Rokblokz guards, but it would probably boil down to a function vs appearance question for me. Since my 1LE is not my daily I would probably take appearance over function with it, but probably not with my Durango.

You can paint them yourself. I bought black ones, then bought Orange Crush paint from Touchup Direct. Not difficult to paint at all. Especially with professional grade paint. The clear coat lays evenly, no over spray "blotchyness".

I'm going to go the same route. I have a friend that owns a body shop that can repaint it.

On a side note, I noticed an imperfection on the front bumper I don't know if the paints cracked or what's going on hopefully my detailer can make it look better. I know new cars are not perfect my 2015 1LE and Dodge Charger all had paint imperfections.

As I’m still waiting for my ride, reading posts about ACS guards, I’ve attempted to check them out with no luck. Where did you buy them? I can’t cross on Amazon, a specialty shop? Please let me know as I know I really need them because my first 1LE got peppered rear fenders! I checked out parts counter at dealership and they’re too small & way too expensive for what you get.
