So, I think most folks would love to see an LT5 Camaro. History suggests that this won't happen (as the ZR-1 engine has not previously been shared).

There is a possiblity that the LT5 could end up in the Camaro anyway. With auto companies going to fewer an fewer unique chassis and drive trains, it could easly be explained.

Also, if this new vehicle was produced it would be a 2020MY at the earliest. And there will no longer be a ZR1 Corvette at that time, so the LT5 would no longer have a home.

Also, also, the timing would be great considering the timing of the GT500 release. Could be pay-back time for the 5th Gen ZL1...

Also, also, also, there was a prototype of some kind of 6th Gen Camaro with Carbon Ceramic brakes and a shaker style hood. (link:https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-car...en-spy-photos/). This could be a new hood to fit the LT5's larger supercharger.

Also, also, also, also, as for the heritage of the name Z/28? This is a minor point for me, so I don't care so much what they call it, just that they make one...

But, IMHO, I don't think we will see an LT5 Camaro. But, that's just my opinion, which you know what that's worth...

C8 Corvette is going to be less roomy than the Camaro. The Corvette is about to have a different market than it has in the past. The next reasonable move is to build a Camaro which can compete with it's competitors thus the LT5 or an upgraded version of something has to go in the Camaro. GM can't wait to make this move because waiting is costing sales. They are listening to the customer which is evident with the 2020 styling change. The 2020 Camaro change was rather easy to achieve and required not drilling a couple holes and a paint
change. The engine swap will be a little more involved but I can't see it not happening. Makes no sense at all. Number 3 in sales isn't a good thing. The Imports aren't sleeping either.

There's nothing unique about that hood. It's a standard ZL1 hood. The reason it looks different is the velcro tape from the cladding they use to hide the vehicle on the top of it.

So there it is.... GT 500 is 760hp thus Chevy has to put the LT5 in a Camaro

Why?

They had a drag pack they could have released that would have been a factory option that would have had the current ZL1 running a flat 10 in the 1/4 mile..

The LT5 is really not needed....

Slightly smaller pulley, intake, and a tune add roughly 100hp to the ZL1 right now....

Sales is why. The LT5 is apparently emissions legal and Chevy has to compete with Ford and Dodge or lose sales.

Chevy can't afford to keep adding cost to the Camaro and expect sales to go up . The LT5 won't help sales if it cost 95k to get into it , unless its a very low production car to finish of the 6th gen . One thing i have noticed is that in the last few years is that Chevy has never felt the need to play the big HP game . It would be easy for Chevy to top any HP car out there . I myself would like to see Chevy build a Camaro and get its HP from something other then a decades old technology like a supercharger . It always seems like Ford takes years after the new generation Camaro comes out to top it . Its time Chevy makes a 21st century Camaro in the gen 7 and a power plant built for it and set the pace for the next 25 years .

Why?

To generate market hype. Chevy doesn’t advertise and the ZL1 1LE is three MY old.

I would have expected one more performance variant introduction to wrap up gen6. If there was, or was not, a car planned, it would have been included in the original gen6 business plan.

Now that the the GT500 is released...

According to GMAuthority GM considered using the LT5 In the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing but decided against it. The article claims that there were too many challenges fitting it into the Alpha chassis.

Hence the CT5-v Blackwing is less complex and slower thus will remain an also ran to the enthusiast who want's to win. But it's cheaper!
Good thing Dodge has the balls to step up on their Challenger models.

As a life long GM customer, I find it frustrating that they are letting the Camaro go without even trying to market it.
1. The only vehicle GM advertises is the Silverado ( high profit margin).
2. GM will never allow Camaro to out perform Corvette, so games are played.
3. The Mustang and Challenger are the halo cars for those manufacturers, with the
performance models helping sell more 4 and 6 cylinder units.
4. GM has gone all in on EV. The Camaro is a lame duck at this point, which absolutely
kills me.
