The light up cup holder I’m pretty sure you’ll have to break to reach the LED chip, I ended up cutting the light tube and attaching my own LED to it. The chip is still sitting in the housing

Not necessary to break the cup holder to remove the led. There is a small clip holding the led chip housing in place, use a small flathead or pick to pry out the clip a bit and pull up at the same time on the led housing. Once out, easily twist and pull the LED away from the light pipe and your done.

Thanks, Hyper! I followed your instructions and now my 1ss 1le has the spectrum lighting both on top the radio and cupholder lamp.

In my quest to change the interior of my 2019 1ss 1le, I have obtained a cupholder lamp with the 24 color spectrum.

I am looking to sell it, as I don'tneed it and will not burn a hole in your wallet. If anyone needs this item to complete this post pm me.

This thread is awesome. I want this in my 1ss so bad, I swapped my LT Silverado to a LTZ interior and Denali 8inch digital cluster, this reminds me so much of that.

Since this thread has gotten so long and theres so much info, can anyone make a complete list of all the part numbers, connectors, etc thats required to get ambient lighting in a 1ss doors, radio, and cup holder?

Or put together a kit? id gladly buy lol

Nice thread, going to add the footwell kit to the zl1. Has anyone found out how to source the LED chips and the plastic holders that connect to the plastic light tube? Would like to get a 6 or 8 sets of leds and some light tube and try adding some other lighting in the interior.

I have the 2017 2LT RS package. My light is also white around the screen. My question is what if we had the dealer install a multi LED from the SS would that work or does anything else need to be added to make it change colors?

Hey fellow Camaro diyer's. So I have a few questions about swapping out my 1SS display unit for a display unit with the ambient lighting. I have a 2022. After looking around I got 84582510 display unit to replace mine. But it has 2 white and 2 Grey plugs on the back sides where as mine has 4 white plugs. Would swapping out the 2 connectors like he did be the solve or do I need to just do what he did and remove the lighting then run the wiring to the floor well lighting wire? Thanks for all the great info on here.

I just removed my radio and the problem is not the lights or connectors, it's the wires going into the radio display. The wires on our 1ss (coming from the vehicle harness) have only 2 wires, 1 white and 1 black that connect to our radio display. So even if you get a radio display from a 2ss, all you will be gaining is the 2 led lights, but you still have the problem of wiring them up. That's why you have to get a wire kit (which has 3 wires going to the led lights) or make your own wires to go into the ambient kit. So you first need a light kit from GM or another website to get the lights (for your doors) and wiring to plug everything up to your car, then get the dealership flash your kit to get the ambient light switch on your display.

Then you have to get:
2 led lights
connectors to connect to the housing already on your 1ss display
3 wires to go from the connectors to the wiring kit you installed and had GM flash
then t-taps to splice into that wiring kit you installed

I hope this makes sense.
