Whoops! I edited the link. Should be good now. It's the VVT317 part. Is that the same as the control valve solenoid?

The pictures I see indicate that the V8 uses the straighter solenoid, while the V6 looks more tapered: https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts...enoid-12679721 BUT... In the repair manual for 2016-2017 it looks like the one in this thread. pretty straight with one o-ring. https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=562224 wintertopdown is still active here. I would try a PM to get clarification before you order. Says he has (or had) a 2017 1LT with the v6. Last edited by ctrlz; 03-16-2023 at 12:48 PM. |

Yep. That looks like the part I need. Kinda wished GM's website would show a picture of the part only. It looks like #22 in the diagram is what I need. I did copy the part number and googled it. A picture of the part did come up in the search results.

You've got three equivalent part numbers to search there. I would buy the cheapest with a decent return policy. Don't know if you are planning to do all 4 or just a few. |

I think you are right, the one you are pointing to is the oil control valve, the tapered one with 3 o-rings in the pictures. Not the one you want.
I found a better diagram in the repair manual of the vvt solenoid and it is the straight one with a single o-ring. Unfortunately not every website has a perfect cross reference of part numbers with pictures/diagrams. I always check multiple sites. I do like getting this stuff off amazon when possible because of the quick shipping and free returns. |

If you get these out and confirm one or more are bad, I would love to know why they failed. Not sure you will be able to tell. Sticking solenoid maybe?

I watched a video with someone testing one of these solenoids. He was wanting it to fail. The probe certainly looks like it could get stuck in or out.
