SS vs LTI - Which one and why?
I am about ready to purchase a new one and was originally going to go with a 2020 LTI, but lately I have been thinking of the SS vs LT1.
Are there good reasons to pay the extra for the SS vs the LT1? The car would be a daily except in winter. My commute is about 60 miles per day. I know the LT1 doesn't come with the extra coolers and rear Brembo's, but is that really that big of a deal? I also know the LT1 includes all season tires that I might extend the driving a little while until the snow actually hits the ground. I have no plans to race the car and just want something fun to drive daily. I saw the LT1 in person and have no issues with the looks vs an SS so looks are not a selling point to me. I also assume there are going to be some smoking deals on the 19's (heck a couple of dealers still have new 18's here) so was wondering if I might be ahead just to get a 19 SS for the same or less money than ordering a 2020. Basically I was going to order a LT1 with 10 speed auto, NPP and a rear spoiler. I am on the fence about adding Recaros to it. If I went with an SS, I would just want a 1SS with NPP and the 10 speed auto. Not interested in a 2SS. Would love to hear everyone's thoughts. |

Price shop a left over 1SS against a 2020 LT1. More importantly get what you really want. The two cars are similar, both have the V8 punch. It just depends on whether you need the extras the SS has. I debated the 1 SS versus my current 2016 LT V6. Mostly everyone said to get the SS. I got what I wanted, a 2016 white used V6 with only 6K miles.....and M/T. Wow I love the car so much. My driving style and by back roads commute I net over 30 MPG on REGULAR gas, love the V6 and it has more punch than I will ever need. I save so much money on gas. I'm so happy I got what I wanted and not what everybody suggested to get.

No he means LT1 vs SS.... LT1 is the new trim model for 2020. Which basically is a LT with the LT1. So the front has brembo brakes, but the rears don't, can't get MRC, etc. |

He’s talking about the 2020 lt1 package, which is basically even more “base” than a 1ss. Come on guys.
If you aren’t tracking the car and it’s just a daily, you may not need any of the extra brakes or cooling. Depending on the price difference, if may (or may not) be worth it. |

Over the years one upgrade that I always wanted or installed was a good braking system. Any car with good horsepower will achieve speed in a short amount of time.
That’s fine and dandy until you need to stop fast for some unplanned reason. Light turns red, someone does a lane change in front of you, etc. As others have mentioned, in the LT1 trim of the 2020, the braking system will not be as good as the SS. That would be a true deal breaker for me. So my choice would be the SS for the reason above. |

It all depends on your budget and the extras you want in the car.
Are there goals you can't live without that are in one or the other? |

All I really have to have is the V8, NPP, and A10. I am not a big fan of lots of options that are just going to break when it gets old, but the coolers and rear Brembo's are what i am in the fence about. I like the thought of a lesser model (Currently own a 92 B4C Camaro) and it not being as common as an SS, but who knows how many of these will sell in that they might be the most common model so pretty much throwing out that mentality.

Based on how the op intends to use the car, the LT1 sems to be the best fit, however if he can't save any $$ compared to a lestover 1ss, then i would go that route. The extra features on the 1ss will not, to my mind anyway, have any effect on reliability.
