Kooks 2" install

Going to be installing my headers on Friday and wanted to see what tips and tricks or do's and don'ts you guys have that have done them. I've found a few threads of installations but they were either another brand or the 1 7/8" version.

Not much difference. Honestly there’s plenty of room for 2” headers on this car

Okay so does the starter need to come out? Does the reservoir have to come out or just laid to the side

I did 2" kooks over the winter on a lift. Removed the steering shaft link on the drivers side, plenty of room to throw it right up from the bottom, piece of cake. Passenger side was tighter, starter and shield can be left in, but i removed the shield for more room. if you remove the shield it is a PITA to get the shield back on after the headers are installed, maybe leave the header loose to allow more room. I removed the coolant reservoir as well, it just makes it easier. you can always give it a try without removing these items, and take off what you want. I just rather have more room to work and not get frustrated. The passenger side will be tight up against the fire wall as you slide it up and into place.

I haven't done headers yet on this car, but between research and looking around when working on my car, these are the things that stand out the most from doing a header install.

remove coolant res, starter shield, steering shaft link, engine covers, plug wires, spark plugs, and the aluminum cradle under the car. Maybe put some blue painters tape on the fire wall so you don't scratch it when sliding the header up in place.

Would have never thought about the tape on firewall. Good thinking. I did find some old sticker transfer tape (basically weak masking tape) that's 12" wide that I'm gonna put on my fenders and such for scratch protection.

Just make sure you can get it up in the air high and secure. Take the plugs out or you'll most likely crack one. The aluminum cradle has to come off as well.
