16 SS A8 vs the road

I finally have been able to really accelerate with the car (in my dreams located in Mexico). And even though it is a smooth shifting A8 vs. my last two fifth gen M6 cars, you can tell the acceleration is quite a bit better.

From a slow 20mph roll and tap shifting with the car in Sport and Competition Mode, it was very stable and strong. If I don't hit the upshift paddle at nearly the same time I hit the throttle, I'm out of 1st gear very quickly. Extremely addicting!

From a standstill, there's a little tire slip, but even in Competition Mode, the tires put the power to the ground. Exactly as it should! I haven't gone past 60 yet, and I'm sorry, I didn't have the car's acceleration timer on yet. And I needed to upshift with the paddles to 2nd very quickly.

Barring any unforeseen issues, the car should finally get some 1/4 mile times this Thursday at Bradenton Motorsports Park. I'll be a little late, but hope to get at least three runs in. 12.2 is my goal, but I'd be happy with a 12.3... LOL. I'm a very experienced drag racer, so here's to good weather and a well prepped track!

OK, just tried the 0-60 timer. My car did 20.7 seconds. Pretty good, right? I tried giving her a bit too much and did a burnout. Nice burnout, but never made it to 60... maybe 52. Shut her down. Need to launch the old fashioned way of depressing the throttle evenly while holding the RPMs at 2000 or so.

My 12 and 15 SS tires were still pretty good after owning each for 2 years. I won't be doing any more "burnouts." LOL
