sorry but who cares about the look of a header? ill never understand keeping parts nice you cant see. as for headers and doing a proper job, wrap them.

The true ceramic coatings like swaintech will lower engine bay temps significantly. This is very useful when you are trying to lower things like IAT. Example of the difference: Open my cars engine bay after a drive that gets the car fully up to temp - there is more heat radiating off the engine/blower than over the headers when you move your hand around. Normally the exhaust headers would be much hotter but the coating really helps.

I couldn't tell you how they compare directly. I know I was happy using cerakote in the past and will likely use them for some coatings in the future, too. But, I can confidently say that JetHott and Swaintech are also very, very good if not better.

I’m looking for some alternatives. I just got a quote from Jethot on their 2500 degree coating and they wanted $1,050 to coat some brand new headers. That’s crazy!!!

Worth the cost for a coating that last forever and dramatically reduces underhood temps. Good coatings are not cheap.

For what it's worth, my headers cost me $350 to get coated using cerakote. I firmly believe that you get what you pay for. They were a sufficient coating for what I needed but, I can bet that the JetHot and Swaintech coatings are likely superior by a fairly wide margin considering the price difference and how long they've been in business.

I didn’t expect it to be cheap, but didn’t also expect it to be over a grand. That’s ridiculous in my opinion. CSP use to offer Jethot as an option & it was and additional $350. They don’t offer that anymore. I know for $350 was the lower temp stuff, but I didn’t expect the ultra to jump up that much

I went Swaintech and it works. I do have to say it doesn't look pretty but who cares I'm after functionality and looks.

You mean not looks, or functionality first, looks second, right?

The expensive coatings are the only coatings that will hold up to abuse without flaking off.
Cheaper coatings look nice until you actually put some heat into the car, then they will all flake off near the header flange / first few inches of primary. If you actually drive your car hard, or any sort of spirited driving, you need to spend good money on a coating. If your car cruises around its whole life without using the gas pedal, going to car shows etc, then the cheapest coatings will "last" for your use. |
