GMPP vs Cold Air Inductions CAI

Can't decide on which CAI to get for my v6. There both priced within $20 of each other. GM's comes with a flash tune so that it doesn't throw a CEL, but it's an open system. Not sure how that will hold up on long drives if it's sucking in warm air from the engine. Cold Air Inductions doesn't require a tune and looks better aesthetically with it's enclosed housing. Neither should void warranty but GM will always support their products over after markets. Decisions, decision. What do you think?

The GM one isn't "open" it has a cover over the air intake so that it sucks in cold air from behind the drivers side headlight...

Personally, I'd go with the GM one so you get the tune and no warranty questions...

Being a $20 difference I'd definitely do the GM one

That open top actually seals against the hood, it is still a closed system...

With the fact that GM never released the reflash for the 2018 model year V6, I wouldn't get too anxious for them to do it for the 2019+ either.

I find it hilarious that GM has an official part that's not 50 state legal.

Especially when all they had to do was put a stupid carbon pad in the thing like the stock unit and enclose it. Get it tested and it would pass.

That's how much GM cares about investing in the camaro.

On the other hand, the stock intake is already a CAI and this crap is just for aesthetics mostly anyway. Most, if not all, of your improvement comes from having a less restrictive air filter ...which you can do with a drop-in.

Totally agree! I just did a drop in filter along with the Airaid intake tube. For $150 brand new I'm probably missing maybe 3 hp compared to a full on aftermarket CAI
