Trailering questions
Hi all. I am looking for an A10 ZL1 and have a few questions related to trailering one back home. Since I live in Northern Illinois, driving it home at this time of year is not an option. I am working on a deal on a car that is 650 miles from home. I have a dual axle (7000 lb) 18' x 7' utility trailer that I modified to use as a car trailer. I put E-track on it and have 4 wheel straps and wheel chucks to secure the car to the E-track. The issue is the trailer has 1' high rails that are not removable, so I can't open the door while the car is on the trailer. I have a wench mounted to the trailer so I can wench the car up with the factory tow hook. My questions are:
1. Can the A10 cars be shut off in neutral so I can wench the car up onto the trailer? 2. If I left the drivers window down, would there be enough room to reach through the little window and engage the e-brake, or better yet, put it in Park? 3.I would also need to be able to roll the window up for the trip home. Would I be able to reach through the window with the key fob and cycle the ACC, RUN and OFF modes and roll the window up from outside the car? 4. I am too fat to crawl out through the trunk with the back seat down. If the above will work then I will have my 12 year old son crawl through the trunk when we get the car home and disengage the parking brake or put the car back in neutral. Does any of this make sense to anyone? 5. Does anyone have a better idea here that I missed? Thanks in advance for any help here. |

1. Yes
2. Yes 3. Yes 4. The backseat doesn’t fold down 5. There is a remote window down function on the key fob, so you could use that to roll down the window. |

Can you possibly put a towel or something soft down and at least be able to open the door a little? I'm a pretty big guy, but I got an enclosed trailer and this is what I do to make enough room for me to squeeze out the window.

I don't have the car yet, how do you roll the windows down with the remote? This is a 2018, is there a dedicated button the remote for that?

Confirm that the back seat folds down in zl1 1le also. you have to lift a cloth cover on the back of the seat that you can see through the trunk. I use a 1/4 drive 6 inch extension to push the lever that unlatches it. I do it every time I load the car on the trailer to store track gear in the trunk. Your son can sit in the car while you load it up and then roll up the windows, set ebrake and put it in park and climb out trough the trunk.

Pics of the latch with the seat folded down. I also confirmed the roll down feature by holding down the unlock button on the remote. I checked it with the ebrake on and I am not sure if it works with ebrake off. Mine is a 2018 zl1 l1e 6 speed with no remote start. But I don't think there is a roll up option.

U-Haul rents a car trailer that works fine for our cars for about $54 ad day. You just need some wood to raise the front so there is no scraping.

For sure. So could I, but the window still needs to be rolled up. It can be done reaching around the door when partially open if there is enough room. The trunk is a good back up plan. |

Once you enable it, all you have to do is hold down the unlock button for a few seconds and the windows will roll down. The car might need be unlocked first but I'll try it later |

Even with the car locked, you can press and hold the unlock button to lower both windows. I just did it on my car with it locked. Don't forget to take the two plates off so it doesn't crush your front bumper and underside. |
