Another pricing glitch?
Hey all!
In the market for a 1le and currently weighing the options on 1ss Vs 2ss. While doing so, I came across this car. It’s a 2ss. From my understanding, the 1ss and 2ss have the same 8” HD screen. The latter adds the Bose system. What’s strange is this $495 surcharge for the 8” screen?! Wait, isn’t that already included?! I’ve seen a similar price glitch with a window sticker adding $395 for red Brembo calipers on a 1le. That was clearly a mistake. Is that what’s happening here? Am I missing something? Thanks in advance! |

No, that package is legit it’s adding factory navigation. Nav is extra.

Okay. Clearly I missed that!
So, is there any benefit for factory Navigation if my intention is to use Apple CarPlay? Is the chevy nav better? Does it tap into the HUD? Does CarPlay not leverage the HUD? |

My car has it and it’s not as good as using nav through Apple car play.

If you really like and want this Camaro I wouldn’t care about a $495.00 charge for Nav and a upgraded system over the one in the 1SS! Nice looking Camaro 1LE and priced right too! Btw, when I bought my 2016 2SS it had the $495.00 upgrade Bose system, NAV, and other features.

Fair enough. However, the factory navigation is very capable and works perfectly in my experience, it is integrated with both the HUD and the gauge cluster (it displays hints, turns, distances and even speed limits in the cluster, continuously and updating in real time, which is super useful), and is always available, does not require fumbling with a phone and a cord all the time. For these reasons alone I would still opt for it if I bought the car today. (The one problem that does exist with factory nav is that GM are fleecing people by not including maps in the normal over-the-air update regimen, instead they want to charge ~$100 every year for a single annual map update, typical corporate greed. BMW were pulling a similar or even worse stunt until recently. All in all, to me this isn't enough to offset the positives I listed above.)

well said, for me, the HUD and dash cluster integration is the whole reason to have it.
