Speed Limiter

I was at the track the other day and noticed an issue. The car is electronically limited to 134MPH. Its an '18 1LE 6M. I looked in the owners manual and it read the info on the teen driver and thats definitely not it. Has anyone ran into this? From what I gather the 1LE should not shut off until 180MPH, is this correct? For what its worth I just bought it with 3500 miles on it. It was a lease, could that have anything to do with it?

8 or 6 cylinder
not that it should matter at 134
what makes you say it was limited to 134

Vehicle Speed Messages
SPEED LIMITED TO XXX
KM/H (MPH)
This message shows that the
vehicle speed has been limited to
the speed displayed. The limited
speed is a protection for various
propulsion and vehicle systems,
such as lubrication, thermal,
suspension, Teen Driver if
equipped, or tires.

Looks like it could be due to several things...these are all a bit vague but, were tires warm? oil checked?

is it CPO with warranty?

What is the speed rating of the tires? I read in another thread that the factory may limit top speed based on tire rating. Don't know if that's true or not.

I read that in the manual as well. It is Certified with warranty and everything was running fine, and fluid levels are in spec. Tires were definitely warm. Also They're the factory F1 supercar tires that are rated to 180MPH.
Its actually having some issues now so maybe once they're addressed it will fix this. Just curious if anyone else has ran into this message.
There weren't any noticeable issues (noises/messages/codes) when I encountered this.

Ok, dumb question time ... how do I get my car to give me this information? I’d love to see what mine is limited to. (Note, I suspect the answer is “hit the limit” I, hoping there’s is a way to do it before that)

I honestly thought all GM trucks and SUVs were limited at 99mph and economy cars at 120mph and sports cars at 160mph.....

I went faster than that in my 17 SS 1LE. In Mexico of course. I also ran 144 at a half mile event. Not modded at all.

Either way, just get a tune and the tuner can easily remove the top speed limiter.

no it varies even with the models
-so the older Yukon's and suburban's were limited to 99, I have a "12 Denali which does 108.
-some sedans will do 99, some do 108. some do 112 (which are all odd numbers if you ask me.
Our Camaros if you have a SS vert will do 155 electronically limited
SS coupe limited to 180.
I think the 4 and 6cyl are limited to 155 or something like that.

Has anyone been to 180 in a 2016 and up stock camaro SS?
On a track or private roadway, of course.

182/183 for my 18 M6SS, according to speedometer and GPS.

Definitely something going on for the OP to be limited to 134.... Mechanical issues, or some teen driver glitch...

Do you need your seatbelt on for the radio to play music?
