Sounds like the canned tune is a big reason for the disappointing power gain (103hp instead of expected ~150) to me. I have seen an SS with the Magnuson 2300 using the Magnuson canned tune, and his only made 480s like that at the rear wheels. I know that dyno number was pretty legit, because I saw the car run on the dragstrip, so I know about how much power that car actually had with that tune in it.
laynlo15, I recall that you had mentioned back in the day that you used a tune that was modified by your buddy Mike with the 2300. Seems to me that his mods to the tune were worth some power over the actual stock Magnuson canned tune, see the results of the guy I have mentioned, plus this guy's car, and shinysun's experience, as evidence. |

I would seriously do the LT4 injectors if you don't want to do the pump. They aren't expensive at all.

OP, I assume you're running a 98mm pulley as I believe that is what comes with the base kit. When I first went FI, I ran a 95mm pulley and a custom tune from Ted Jannetty. My only other mods at the time were 1 7/8 headers and a ZL1 low side pump. This setup made 568/567 on a Dynojet and my fuel system was able to keep up. I'm sure I was right at the limit though. Ted Jannetty has done several similar builds, he used to advertise this as his Street Brawler package. I recommend giving Ted a call, I'm sure he can help you to free up a good bit more power before upgrading your fuel system

We only changed the PE because it was so rich but still used the canned original tune as far as everything else goes. Its been a while back but I believe it made about 530 or so with nothing changed in the tune. I'd bet his PE as I stated earlier is probably the issue.

I'd be mad too.
100 whp gain?! That is low. Be careful which tuner you use. There are still so many that think they can doodle around with the LT1 because they are familiar with the LS engines... Dynos can produce all kinds of jibberish The track doesn't lie When they open up I'd recommend you hit one up Or get a Dragy and do some 60-130 pulls and quarter mile runs Let us know how this turns out please Thanks

To better put things into perspective, given the variability between dynos, A bone stock m6 dynoed right after me and made just a tick less, he was at 55xhp. Your car, with the right tune should make ZL1 power.

My tuner said with a custom tune from him he thinks he can get the 550 hp. I just didn't want to spend the extra 700 bucks until I get the headers, cai, and throttle body.

Just for you to reference and something to think about. same rotor pack and a blower w different can tune.
Edelbrock advertises 580 rwhp on a dynojet when we tested ours with the can tune it was right on PAR if you figure the mustang reads lower it ripped off 551 to 553 3x in a row. this was on a M6 car with no mods other than the blower. Powerfab Motosports tuner (Brian) at the time who I believe moved to BC Raceworks was pretty damn impressed with the Can tune he said it was the best one he's seen. I had a few ck lights P2199 and Edelbrock for some reason sent me to Jeff at Calloway who writes or wrorte there tunes at the time he sent me the files to fix the Iat correlation directly. So I know Calloway cars get a bad wrap but his tuner must be okay.. so a few things to look at.. 1. M6 vs Auto that could be about 30 hp difference 2. Octane content? Is it a true 93 or 91 I know my can tune came with a 91 and 93 tune.. So ck that. Maybe they uploaded the wrong one? 3. Look to see if timing is being pulled from high Iats or something. I know the edelbrocks had a hard time getting the air pockets out of the system maybe you have some or the pumps not working or not working full speed.
