I was on track with a modded Mustang that was running these. Seemed to do pretty good considering it was a cold day and wet in a few places.
In tirerack testing, dry performance looks pretty good, wet not so much. Must be why they only have a A Traction rating instead of AA https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests...y.jsp?ttid=235 |

Let us know if you have an rubbing in the rear due to the bigger profile.

I bought some ZL1 addons 3MM spacers as insurance but there was no evidence of rubbing when we put them on after about 100 miles of driving. So far so good. No need to relocate the wire harness either.

bump.
Interested in 1LE sizing as I've had the firehawk 500s on two other vehicles now with great success for the price. What would be an appropriate size option for the 1LE? 1. I could go with 295/30/20 square, or; 2. 295/30 fronts, 305/35/ rears. Both options are around the same price. |

These are such a massive downgrade in performance from the OEM tires, it’s sad. They’re not well matched to an SS 1LE at all. Couple that with the fact that they aren’t even available in the proper sizing.
I have them on my wife’s stock GTI. They’re a much better fit for a car like that. |

Down grade in performance from the stock tires, but the trade off might make up for the lower performance. They come in the 1LE sizes. They are much quieter than the Goodyears which sounded like tires on a Jeep after 9000 miles. They don't fling rocks and gravel all over my rear quarters every where I go. I can drive in the rain without the pucker factor. Fuel mpg seem improved. Straight line traction might actually be better. Tram lining all but gone, car goes straight down the road without fighting with you over every irregularity in the pavement. Downside, they are less precise than the Goodyears. Might be the softer sidewalls or the fact the tires have actual tread depth versus the Goodyears mostly solid rubber construction. Not sure if I'm feeling the sidewalls flexing or tread squirm, but the Continentals are less direct than the Goodyears. I've whipped the car around a curve and the tires hold, no indication of lack of lateral grip, but you don't have the same direct feeling you get with the Goodyears. I wanted the Michelin PS4S's but backordered.

Those Contis are a little better than the Indy500s, PS4S definitely better than the Contis. But the Supercar3 are well beyond the PS4S on track. I understand not putting really high performance tires on a DD car, but high grip and stick is why I bought a 1LE, it’s so balanced. It has few compromises in that regard. I don’t want to downgrade the tires on it, or I would’ve just bought a non track focused SS and saved a lot of money. |

True they are a downgrade for track use (massive may be an overstatement imo) but for street use they are probably an upgrade when driving in the rain or temperatures below 50°F compared to Goodyear Supercar 3 tires. Whether or not they are practical depends on how the owner uses the car.
