Drag Strip Advice Needed - Competition Mode Ran 12.41 tonight
Just ran my 16 ss A8 tonight. SCT X4 (93 tune), K&n filter, sec cat delete and Flowmaster 10's axle back. 12.41 @ 112. Pretty excited but know the car can do much better. My first two runs I left traction control alone and did ok with 12.5 and 12.6. Put it in competition mode and launched from idle and ran 12.41. 4th and final run I tried launching at 1500 rpm or so and ran12.5 and had ton of wheel hop at launch. Any advice for launching and is competition mode what I should be running? I heard launching at idle is best for a mostly stock auto.
Also, 3rd gear takes forever to get to 4th. Will the car force the shift sooner with paddle shifter to get back in power band sooner. Meant to try this. (I run the car in auto not manual mode)

Leave a little above idle I found best let tires down to 20 PSI my best Bone Stock On Street tires 12.09@113.78 1.85 60ft

gonna have info for you after my first trip to the track. Im not sure how to launch as well. If you try to hold the factory brake and leave at 2000 RPM....not sure if it will work or not. gonna have some fun..

Nice. I tried launching like this and got some nasty wheel hop but will use a little less and let some more air out. Still have another month before open test and tune at our track here. Thanks!

Emerald Coast Dragway in Holt Fl. Its a little bit east of Pensacola on I-10. They had a tragedy at the track a couple weeks ago. The family that owns and operates the track were hit by a drunk driver on their way home after racing was over. The two children lost their lives as did the others in the car. It was a bad deal.

Back to topic , let the car cool down. Make sure weather is cooler , it makes a big difference,

I held mine to 1500 RPM to launch. I’ve run the same from idle too though? I’m curious about what RPM to try and shift with the paddles. So far for six runs, I’ve just left it in auto and run 12.8’s
