Very very strange noise
I just bought my 2019 ZL1 on Oct. 31st. It was brand new. I noticed something strange at the very beginning. When the car has been sitting for a long time, like overnight, as soon as I open the door, it makes a sound. The best way to describe it is, it sounds exactly like the sound old antennas on cars sound like when going up or down.
The sound only last a few seconds, then goes away. I previously have owned a 2014 Camaro RS, a 2016 Camaro 2SS and never had this issue. Any help before I have to take it to a dealer would be appreciated. |

Fuel pump priming. Normal.

My truck does it too...it prevents excessive cranking prior to starting which allows the fuel rail to pressurize. Older cars which require less rail pressure would prime when the key was turned to "run" prior to cranking in the "start" position.

Strange as I have never noticed this with my ZL1! I usually close the door before starting the engine anyway.

I noticed that, too, but never thought much about it. Maybe the DI engines need that from the lift pump in the tank so they fire-up quicker. Interesting... That makes sense. HA.
