Thanks guys, ive been changing my oil with penzoil full syn every 5-8000km depending on how I drove it or the weather conditions and what not.

So I will start to do it maybe every 5000km which is overkill but dont want to deal with these problems.

Going to pick up the chains today and take apart the motor
Looking forward to the tear down for some odd reason lol

Guys the thought of an LS swap has me so excited I wish I can confirm how to do it because I would start ordering parts right away like LS3 heads, fast intake, cams

Read those threads about the swap. One guy gave up and the other was $46+k in before he got it working. Sounds like one of the keys is Making sure your donor car is the same year as your LLT.

Just buy MY Stingray, so I can get a ZO6, and we'll both be happy.

Good luck with the tear down, hope all works out for you in the end.

This is what I gathered as well

Any ideas where I can pick up a wrecked 2010 SS?

Wouldnt I be able to source all the wiring from GM anyways?

How do the LS3 guys get to do the LSX or LS7/9 swaps and avoid the wiring hastle?

For you?, I could let it go for mid $60Gs

Remember the Grand Sport is nothing more than a suspension upgraded Stingray with the same engine and wider body.

It looks like someone bought it but there was a 5th gen Being parted out on Kijiji in Toronto... I just went through 20 pages and couldn't find it... Keep an eye open for it on kijiji..it was a 10 or 11 with a ZL1 white bumper.

Sorry to hear about your motor Dennis, but we've all been there at some point

In my opinion, doing the LS swap is not worth it. It would be cheaper to find a nice used 5th gen SS ! I recommend you get your car fixed, and then sell it... Use that money for down payment on another purchase.

Sucks to go through this

Wow thanks for the heads up! I will start to scavenge for parts on Kijiji today.

I know its not worth it financially or logically lol but this damn car means so much to me I cant let it go. From here on out, any car I buy will be just a car to keep for a few years and then hop onto the next one. But this one, I have to do something. Even if it means buying a totalled 2010 SS and swapping the entire thing over (must give a new meaning to the term headache)

By the way you hopped into a 16?!

Of course, do what makes more sense to you... I loved my 5th gen, but there are other cars out there B.T.W., Costco has a great deal on Advil

Yes, got the car just before Christmas... Just insured it for the road today... looks like this weekend might be nice for a cruise

If you're mechanically inclined and have the tools this isnt hard to do a LS swap.

The easiest way is with a donor car. If you buy a written off 2010 SS that the driveline is still good its doable. You will need to swap the BCM and ECM along with the entire wiring harness, the gauge cluster and either the key cylinder or the whole steering column, and the door lock key hole.

As long as you literally pull everything from the donor car you can transplant it into your former LLT.

Unbolt the entire front subframe and roll the LS3/L99 subframe with motor and tranny under your car and bolt it in.

Its a time consuming process and you need some space to do it, but this isnt rocket science. As long as everythings being reused from the donor vehicle it'll work.
