Track Mode Question

Hi yall,
Before I bought my zl1, i was reading somewhere about the different modes. I don't remember correctly but I thought it stated that when the car is put in track mode it reduces horsepower slightly.

Can anyone confirm or deny?

Thanks in advance!

Not true. It just ramps the throttle blade to WOT a little smoother for corner exit traction.

A quick question on this as well. Does the car have full power if say I floor it in Tour?

If I'm in tour and Hellcat rolls up next to me what do I need to do to get the car in a mode for the A10 and engine to be in their optimal performance modes? Ive always been a bit confused about this.

By the way I tried holding the left paddle for the passing down shift with the trans in manual mode. I was in 4th at 30-35 Mph..It down shifted to 1st to about 5500 Rpm. Wow. I expected it to go to around 4 or 4500 but not way up there. I pushed it back over in regular dive mode and it immediately up shifted, but that caught me by surprise with a such a low gear selection.

The modes can be changed while your driving. So if your in tour and want to be in track you will only need to push on the switch on the center console.

If I'm in a straight line drag, I go to Track, then scroll to Sport 1. All nannies off. Not sure if that does anything, but that's what I do. haha.

I understand that, but is the car limited on power in tour mode? (in the Hellcat you have to unlock the 707hp. Otherwise its 505hp until you do.) Is the Camaro the same way until you get into a certain setting IE track sport 1 or some other setting?

If I'm in tour I'm aware the A10 is not at its most aggressive. I believe you need to be in Sport with stabilitrack enabled for the transmission to start shifting aggressively.

If I'm in tour, what should I change my settings to for optimal transmission and engine performance? ( is the engine limited on power in tour like the transmission is less aggressive? )

I would switch to Sport mode and either run it just like that with TC still on or double tap the TC button to go into Competitive Mode, which is like having everything off. That is something that can be done very quickly. I always drive mine in Sport, so I can just hit it or do the double tap.

Yes......holding the down paddle goes to the lowest possible gear. If you are around 40 mph or faster, in Sport or Track, just blip the throttle to the floor, and it will downshift to the best gear for accelerating. Usually 1 gear higher than holding the paddle, depending on your speed, it is sometimes the exact same gear. Once it has geared down, pull the shifter to manual to hold the gear until you go, then push it back to auto.

I think all the power is there in Tour, but the trans just isn't as aggressive, so it feels less sporty.

You don't have to unlock 707hp in the Hellcat FYI they are 707 from mile zero as soon as you step in with the red key. Don't be thinking you are going to get the jump on one when it rolls up next to you and you think he has to do something "special" to unlock his full horsepower.

I have an M6 not an A10, but I can say for sure that the car cuts power to the wheels in certain scenarios like gassing it out of a corner or down shifting to second at like 40 and flooring it. If I put it in track and put it to sport 2 all that nonsense stops.

This. There isn’t a power difference, just a difference in throttle mapping and transmission operation.

The bigger question is what to do with the traction control. A single tap in Tour or a double tap in sport is what I do. I don’t really like the PTM modes for straight line stuff.

I use PTM sport 1 and the noise it makes when it kicks in is priceless. Yea it cuts power but it makes one hell of a noise in the process. If you just run track mode and turn only traction control off with one tap it lets you have all the power and wheel spin until the car starts moving sideways and the stability control kicks in.
