Reports from a few of my engine builders state. The new pvc systems in our lt1 we do not require a catch can . They also point out if you do short trips and engine never gets to operating temps yes get a catch can otherwise DO NOT NEED.

The generous coating of oil on the inside of my intake manifold at 1800 miles says otherwise...

The dirty side of the PCV system is identical to the LS series engine. The only difference being it's on the drivers side in the LT1 and it's on the passenger side in the LS engines.
It's a hose that goes from the valley cover to the intake manifold.

The fresh air side was revised in the LT1 utilizing both valve covers and a "separation" chamber between the valve covers and the intake bellows.
Any time the engine is operating under vacuum, in other words any time not at WOT, the dirty side of the system is functioning.

This is why a catch can is needed.

I've had mine on for about 4000 miles and collected about two ounces of oil.
Might not seem like much, but it's oil that would have formed carbon on the pistons, cylinder head, or the valves.
YMMV

#fakenews. I mean the guy has engine builders saying this, clearly the oil that people are finding in their intakes is just made up...clearly.

What he said. As much crap as I dump out of my Elite CC, I wouldn't run without it.

The large breather on top would lead me to believe that at some level that can is defeating the PCV function?

The filter has a rubber diaphram & the clean side has a check valve as well

Do all catch cans need a check valve on the clean side? I've seen different opinions throughout this forum.

I noticed that the Mishimoto does not have one, and my kit from Elite came with the option but I did not believe it to be necessary.

Any opinions?
