Went and looked at a new 6th Gen.........
Pretty damn nice car. Not too small inside for me at my height (6ft) but it is noticeably smaller. I'm very disappointed in their pricing though. Cheapest they'd come down from the 47k msrp was to 45.5k. They're basically repeating the same thing they did to theirselves back in the 2000s, pricing themselves out of the market. Don't get me wrong, it's a hell of a nice car, drives great, 10spd shifts bang on the money, suspension feels tight, steering weighted nicely, but it's not worth 9k over a GT Premium Mustang. So looks like I'll still be on the hunt......

Hefty price tag, you can get a whole lot of 5th gen ZL1 for that.

That is exactly the point I made to the salesperson. It's ridiculous to consider a regular SS vs a clean and low mileage ZL1 5th Gen. I just looked and the ZL1s in my area are about 11k cheaper in price...... Lmao!

If it was me, I’d get the ZL1 and a bottle of Chemical Guys new car smell air freshener. Win Win.

Your sig says you're in Gulf Coast area. Try the bigger Houston market, dealers up here are a little more competitive, taking 5-7K off going by internet pricing. I know the market in areas like Corpus, dealers seem to be a little tougher. I had a customer come all the way up from Corpus to buy a Scat Pack Widebody, because the dealers down there wouldn't deal. Was the 45.5 their selling price or the drive out price? |

Not only are the prices too high, Chevy dealers are VERY proud of their cars and won't negotiate much if any. There's some dealers out there using the carmax no haggle tactic. Funny enough last month I think they were 20% off.

It really doesn't have anything to do with the dealers. They cannot do much on the price of new cars. All the incentive programs and price drops come from the manufacturer, not the dealership. Manufacturers don't usually give big price breaks on "toys". They do on things with big markets like pickup trucks. Best bet if you want a 6ths gen is look for one with under $10k miles and save your $10-15k, let the first owner eat the big chunk of the value loss.

You may as well buy a C8 it's barely more money!

For those prices, you can step into a 5th gen Z28.

Why not a CTS-V?

Right, and a good many of those are crazy low miles too. As long as they’re for sale.

If I were to get a new one, I would be looking at the new LT1 model. It's a reasonable price for the v8.
