And the vehicle never showed up in the Chevy inventory search, nor in my dealer's inventory. The only heads up I got was when my salesman sent me a text on Friday saying the car was moving and being put on a truck in Michigan.

Weird process all around. If you discount the fact that the order with my first dealer was placed in mid-November (they never got an allocation), the whole time from order to delivery for me was right in line with most other cars I've factory ordered. It's just there's been so much uncertainty and lack of communication from GM through this while process that it's felt like it's taken a lot longer.

Picked up the car this evening. Filthy dirty, but I had told them not to wash it and just do the necessary PDI and they followed my request. All the plastic was even still on the interior, which is just what I wanted. All the fluids seemed to be filled properly, and the shipping blocks were removed from the front suspension as well. I did notice what looks to be some swirl marks around the "winglets" on either side of the decklid spoiler, so I'm wondering if it happened when they put those on (if I'm not mistaken, they're shipped to the dealership uninstalled). Won't have a really good idea of the paint condition until I give her the first wash, which I'll hopefully do at the end of the week. Then I'll be installing my ACS rock guards and side skirts, ZL1 lift pads, smoked sidemarkers, 1LE fender emblems, and skip shift eliminator that I've had sitting in my garage for months before starting in on a full detail (strip wash, chemical and mechanical decontamination, paint polish, and ceramic coating). With any luck I'll have that all completed this by the end of the weekend, but since it's just a weekend fun car, I'm not in any particular rush and just glad to finally have her.
Was kind of a weird situation too, in that the first time I've seen a 1LE, or even driven a 6th gen Camaro of any type, was tonight when I picked up my car. Thankfully, even with following the break-in procedure, I can still tell how capable she is, and I'm really thrilled with the way she drives!

Hi guys, new member here with a quick question. I’ve never ordered a car before, and all this uncertainty is disheartening.
If a dealership page shows a car in transit, are they definitely getting that car eventually? I feel like what I want is pretty simple, black 2SS 1LE, 6 speed, no extras on top of that is necessary for me. I’d be fine with a 22 or a 23. I’m in no rush but I want the car before they’re no longer made at all. Can a person just put a deposit on a car with that configuration that shows “in transit” and then pick it up once it arrives, or is it the same gamble as ordering? Thanks. |

Most cars showing in transit are likely to have been sold or spoken for already, you would have to call around and inquire on each, individually.

New member here. I put a deposit on a car ordered by a dealership in Stillwater, OK on 6/1. Car was built on 5/25. As of today, it shows to be on a train, in Elkhart, IN. ETA is 8/12. The wait is KILLING me! Does anyone know about how long it usually takes to make it once on the train? Im wondering if the eta is at all close. (2022 2SS convertible, in Shadow Grey Metallic)

I called this dealer that had my Exact build coming in and thought for sure that it was a customer car. It wasn't and was available and I am hoping to get it this week but the ETA keeps bouncing around between today and 8/1 Also verified its MSRP price

This has been my experience as well. You typically will see the car listed as in-transit on the GM site and possibly the dealer website that pulls the information. Usually if any 1LEs, ZL1s or other highly desirable trims are sitting on the lot it is because it has ADM on it for the folks that willing to pay not to wait.
